The EE braggers thread!!!

Pretty even beat up ;) mealworms (dried so I would get creepy crawly lol) by hand made my rescue skittish hen my BFF. Haven't had a nice rooster ever lol nor tried to friend one but it very well may work the same!
This is my new EE cockerel I got last wednesday. His full name is Dr. John Watson( after the character in Sherlock Holmes), but I just call him Watson. He is 3-4 months old. The lady I got him from had had seven of her chicks turn out to be males and he was the smallest out of all of them so he was beat up quite a bit. He has no sickle feathers and he had a large chuck of flesh taken out of him. But thankfully that is healing and is not infected at all. So far he seems like a nice bird, I just still have to work on getting him to be more comfortable around me.

He's so pretty! Love his coloring. My cockeral EE is very skittish, the only reason he gets near me is because he sees me petting the BO pullets and they run right up to me and start becking at my clothes and stuff and he watches me pet them and they don't mind. He won't let me get to close or he runs for it. He's smart tho when I go to put the girls in the crate to sleep at night he will run in really quick so I don't pick him up lol. Soon I will be moving them down to the big coop and I won't have to do that anymore, yay! I was going to free range them but now I'm really worried because I saw a fox in the yard. :( I'm thinking of going with poultry netting, so they will be able to get out of their run.

I have a quick question, I have some Easter egger/silkie mix chicks that I am looking to sell. Just wondering if anyone has an idea how much I should ask for them. I'm not looking to ship them so it's going to be local only , but I have no idea what to charge. Thanks!!
I assume they are straight run, if sexed the price will be a little higher for the girls & lower for boys. At auction in Platte, South Dakota this past week, s/r "barnyard mix" chicks brought from .50 to 2.00 each. Barnyard mix started pullets were from 3.00 to 7.00 a bird. Hope that helps. It really depends on your area and who is buying. My standard is to ask 2.00 obo that way you have an option to negotiate instead of being scared off by a firm price.

You could sell them as EE / silkie cross and maybe get more or maybe get less.....is the EE side bantam as well or full size?

Look at the fuzzy faces I had hatch Sunday. Roo would be one of my Non Standard Ameraucana Hens One egg from each EE, Australorp, Silver Laced Wyndotte, and Brown Leghorn. Want to guess which came form which. lol All have very puffy cheeks.

This is my first broody and hatch if they all turn out this cute I can't wait for more. I never have trouble selling EE's.
