I am posting a picture of my new EE pullet so that I am subscribed to this post. I am kinda new to EEs and Si is my first. No egg yet. She is about 23 weeks old. Can anyone tell me what her color is called?? Thanks!

Easter Eggers do not really have color names. If you want to describe her I would have to see a better picture of her, because all I can see right now is white and brown (or red?), sort of. We use genetic names with birds that don't have color names, and I am unsure where she would fit. Possibly a brown laced white?

You can call her pretty, because that's what she is.

Egg color question:

Last year I hatched some eggs from my Wheaten Ameraucanas bred to my Welsummer roo. (Who by the way was the best boy EVER; I set these eggs after he got taken by a fox... I wasn't planning to make EEs, but I love 'em!)

Out of that batch I kept a girl (who looks like a perfect mix of the two: faded tan with Welsummer markings) who is a nice green-egg layer, and a boy (who looks like a Wheaten Am with a poor comb). Now I've bred him back to my Welsummers. Out of which I now have two 8-week old (I hope!) pullets. Both are maked like Welsummers; one has a small wispy beard and both have green legs. Both appear to have single combs.

So..... That is all a long way to say that I have two pullets, each 3/4 Welsummer and 1/4 Ameraucana.

I was hoping to get dark green or olive eggs out of these two, but now I read that is unlikely if they have a single comb? Any predictions welcome!

Thanks!

Srambles55, thanx for asking this question, I have a girl that looks almost like that and just haven't asked the question. Mine is only 12 weeks but does not have the blue/silver head and not as much color on her wings. I do hope she looks more like yours as she get older cause she "is" just pretty as can be.

I would say based on the comb, you are likely to get brown egg layers. Based on the genetics, you could hope for greenish eggs, but you certainly won't get olive. To get olive, you need the dark brown egg gene instead of just a regular brown/tan.

Hi there, this is my first post, ever really  But I just wanted to show off my little EE, Madame Poule. She's about 20 weeks now and she's one of a flock of 3 chickens total, all different breeds. She's the sweetest thing ever and the only one of the three that enjoys being held. I love looking at all the different EEs on this thread!

and this was her at 2 weeks old :D

Pretty girl you have there, I have had hatchery Americanas (EEs) for over 20 years, they always have been my favorite birds. The last batch I bought were even friendlier than normal - and I have one I have to watch because she will walk in front of me and stop and look at me, waiting for treats.

A newer, EE I bought probably 2 months ago alid her first egg today. Definatley a double yoker. Heres some pics to show size

This is a large sized egg carton. I couldnt get it closed
