The EE braggers thread!!!

I wasn't sure if it worked with barred rock hens and ANY rooster (have three EE roos running around)...the only info I could really find was making black sex links and that was usually using a RIR roo. I have a mostly black roo, mostly red roo, and a mostly white/grey roo and any one of them could have been the father of the chicks.

Look up Sex-linked information thread . Start on page1 for the basic information and traits. Any of those roosters will create a sex link with barred hens. Without the barring the hens are black the black is going to dominate the other colors . Chicks from any of those roosters and barred rock hens will be mostly black at hatch. The white / grey is probably the poor choice for sex links. He may carry silver or Columbian or both . Should not affect the outcome but not sure . Barring does not show well on white or yellow chicks . So buff and wheaten are poor choices.

This is supposed to be a blue laced red wydonette - obviously not since "her" legs turned green, but look how pretty these colors are turning! I hope I get something really interesting!

I broke down this morning. I was reading Craigslist and ran across an ad for 'Ameracauna/Araucanas' and decided to take a ride to this farm. She had many bins of babies of different breeds, and she says they are sexed. If I happen to get a male by the end of June, she'll trade me for another pullet. So, I went for it. Although, I'm a little doubtful that these are purebred. They look more like EE, which is ok cause we'll still get colored eggs. Any opinions???

Silver is the only variety of Ameraucana with striped chicks. So if they are not silver then they are EE. I am interested in her sexing method. Striped chicks can be sexed they say. I tried it but not sure how it will turn out. I toe punched a batch of silvers and time will tell.

One is a silver color, but not the other two. She said something about day old chicks, microscopes & vents with different shaped something in them... I can't remember what the heck she said. Lol Anyhoo...about the breed... How will I be able to tell if the silver is one when its grown?

Here is a pair of silvers . She is vent sexing . Hard to learn. I tried but just can't do it. Sounds like she has EE .

I couldn't imagine trying to sex them that way! Especially with all the bins upon bins she had of chicks throughout two rooms of her house...plus two huge incubators full!! That would take forever to go through them all!. Anyway, thank you for posting the photo of the silvers so I know what to look for. :thumbsup

Sounds like she orders from a hatchery and resells

I was thinking the same thing. I was looking for some more silkies, other than white, and she tried selling me her splash roo & buff hen. I was wondering why she wouldn't have silkie chicks if thats what she had. I also asked about polish & she said she doesn't get enough calls for them. She had tons of black chickens with copper coloring around the head. I can't remember the name of that breed. But she told me if I got a roo of that & bred with an EE I would get olive eggers
