Fluff (the wheaten one) is the mom of the chick in the 2nd and last picture. She is the grandma of everyone else. The other brown EE is the mother of the other chicks.

So I had purchased a so called Ameracauna to find it's coloring was that of an EE. As it got older it layed a blue egg when I was told EEs do not. So being that it passed away I thought about another hoping for the same luck. Excuse my ignorance if it's normal or not, but I was educated it was more green than blue and it was a pretty powder blue at that.

EEs can lay blue, green, olive, pink, brown, or white. It all depends on what they were mixed with and what genes are carried by the parents.

One of my best blue eggs comes from a 3 year old hatchery EE. I had one that laid a very true green egg. Several of them have laid olive. Almost all of the second generation from them (hatchery EE mothers with a wheaten ameraucana father) have laid blue. They still look similar to their mothers.

I've been told that Murray McMurray has some of the best blue eggs. All my first EEs were from Privett. I'm not sure where the new ones I bought a few months ago are from or what color they will lay.
