The EE braggers thread!!!

Hey everyone!
I have to ask a question that I think was already asked (sorry..) I've just hatched 9 adorable little fuzzy butt EE's and noticed a couple of them have a defined dot on their heads. Is this autosexing? Are these roosters? I'm trying to sell them and now I'm being asked.. I feel inexperienced all the sudden lol

Pics?

See the little one there with the dot? That's probably the best pic I have, it's dark right now so I'm unable to take a new one but there's probably 3 with distinguished spots.

What cross did you use to bring them about? Generally speaking the answer is going to be no, it is not an indication of gender unless you have used a cross that would yield black sex link easter eggers (ie a blue egg rooster of the right color over a barred hen). I would sell your chicks straight run.

Had to share...love my grandchildren and their curious questions....

Cutest thing ever...Daughter came by with her boys today. One of the boys sees the eggs that I had gathered so far on the counter. He comes up to me and asks..Grandma, did you paint those eggs, or did they come out that way? So cute! Children are amazing with their great questions about interesting new things to them.

Rooster is a blue wheaten Americauna
Hens are black australorp, black sex link, buff Orpington, Americauna, EE, and salmon favorolle

So is anyone able to tell what sex they have? This seems to be my biggest set back in sales.

With the mixes you have no you can not sex at hatch . People expect too much usually . You can sex them a little older . Watch the tail feathers grow . Cockerels will grow tail feathers slower . Also watch the breast feathers . Black or blue feathers coming in = cockerel on wheaten family and striped chicks . This will work on the crosses you have that are not black . Are you prepared to deal with the cockerels that no one wants ?

Great that's what I needed to know. Yes, worst case scenario I can always give them to my mother in law. They cull roosters at their place. maybe I'll just start hatching my Americauna eggs only. Americaunas are not an autosexing breed either right?

No they are not . If you want blue eggs and auto sexing try Legbars .
