Thanks! June didn't begin laying till about 40 weeks old. When she started, though, she began with whopper eggs! I feel bad for her sometimes because she strains and groans and moans when she lays them.
We have a mix of EE's from Ideal first, then from McMurray. And we have some we hatched ourselves also. Our first roo my oldest named 'Mike Rowe' in honor of a Dirty Jobs episode that had chickens. Then we were suppose to get some EE pullets only from McMurray.....and ended up with one roo. He is named Mo. All of ours lay a nice blue to blue/green egg. I also have a Marans/EE roo that is cuckoo feathered that I may cross in to make olive eggers/creoles. He spent a few nights out not wanting to be caught and somehow injured his leg. He walks with a marching salute now on one leg, so we named him Hilter.
Many of my riding students love to see him walk. He is becoming famous around here.
Anyhow, here are some of our birds....
Mike Rowe with two of his women...Easter and Sabrina....
Mr. Mo..... he has a redish orange layer of feathers with a blue under coat so to speak....
And Mo with Gracie. Gracie is one we hatched. She lays a very pretty green egg.
Set some test eggs from my gals crossed with several of my extra Marans cockerals....can't wait.....could be BCM daddy, Bl-CM daddy or splash daddy......should be fun to see what we get.
I have 12 one black one white and a dark one that's always in you face and one lite gold and gray the rest look the same. All lay lite ble eggs but one green egg layer. This was taken yesterday befor the snow.
