I too have had problems w/ the "other" thread mentioned, this thread is usually alot more tolerant and friendly, don't know what's wrong this last couple of days.

We got some chicks out of the pullet bin at atwoods and we asked what they were and there was one that people were debating on whether or not it was partridge rock. Then when holding it, I noticed it had a lot of fluff around its face and it looks like I got another EE! She is a cutie. We also have the Olive egger and then 5 EE chicks, that may be at least 3 roos. Not sure which of those we are keeping.

this conversation is so silly. one person is talking color (plain simple basic colors. ) The other is talking reconized color by a breed standard color GENES. Two different things.

A black chicken is a black chicken = questionable breeding = any colored chick its color is black still black in color. show it to a 1st grader he will say it is a black chicken. If he knows his colors. LOL

We are talking color not GENES....


A black amercuana must breed true xing to black chicken =s a black chick if straight black gene. But it is still a black chicken ask the 1st grader.

Show standards are great if you are in to that. I have to amirer people decaded to show birds.

My EEs chickens Have a job around the ranch and come in many colors (to my delight) To me I love seeing the many color rooster that are developed between to crosses. and guess what color they will grow up to be. blue base, black base, white base with other colors mixed in. just my 2 cents worth.

This pair of chickens is "Blue Copper" in color. They happen to be Olive Eggers, a subcategory of Easter Eggers. They will likely never, ever be accepted by the APA, but they are still "Blue Copper" in color. One could also say "Copper Blue" and not be incorrect.

Whether they would breed true or not is irrelevant, they are Blue Copper. I know this to be the case by two methods: simple observation and firsthand knowledge of their genetics. The fact that they are Blue Copper in phenotype and genotype is exactly that, scientific fact. It is not contingent upon the approval of the APA or some kid on the internet.
