The EE braggers thread!!!

Nope. Golden Cuckoo is a barred birchen. Crele is barred duckwing.

Yes, it is the first hen shown.

Often a good way of telling a true Crele versus another colored barred bird is, in the males - the secondary feathers are orange barred, instead of black barred. In females, the entire bird is various shades of brown/gold barred, while the neck has some black tickling.

Thanks everyone.

I just don't like seeing arguments happen, especially when I'm brought up and not around. Makes me feel like doing this -

I have my own opinions too on subject matters, but after a while of seeing heat build up in several threads in the breeds/genetics section, I've learned to keep myself a little more quiet.

I think it's the Buttercup looking coloring like in my 5th & 6th pictures. But don't quote me on that!

That one I commented on earlier w/ the grey head and the very slight "lacing" just my term I know it isn't real just looks similar. If so She is beautiful I love her coloring so different!!!! Did you get her from your own or from a hatchery or a breeder?

Whew! I have been busy today and just got on a while ago and caught the tail end of what's best described as maybe a "heated discussion".... First - Jennifer Smith, I am sorry about your hard time by the folks on the "other" thread. I didn't go over there to see what you might have said to set them off but in seeing that you are kinda new to BYC they should have cut you some slack. After all this is 'spose to be a place of information and to have your questions answered by those with experience and knowledge. I have all three breeds of blue egg layers and each one is special in their own way. Yes, I did say THREE breeds as I don't lump all EE's into one category. Not to offend anyone at all but the hodge-podge mixes of say Ameraucana X w/ Leghorn or Araucana X w/ Barred Rock is truly a "mutt". ( I learned that term from the "other" thread) Then there are the true EE's that have been around for at least 40 yrs. They may not always be a standard, recognizable color but if bred continually along the same family line do breed true for not only color but also in body type. These are the chickens that were, however erroneously, once labeled Araucana. These were the infamous Americana's. They laid blue eggs. It was actually the "mutts" that became known as what some hatcheries term "Rain-bow Egg Layers". Let us here on this thread not muck it up with a lot of needless bickering like I have seen on a few of the other's, but keep it informative and fun. All the pics are great and the owners of them are equally proud of them as they should be. The title of this thread says it best- EE braggers
