As some here probably know from other threads, I lost all but 8 of my flock of 52 a few weeks ago to a plague of buffalo gnats. Since that time, I've been rebuilding with eggs hatched from the now deceased birds. Only one EE hatched............................. but I've promoted

some hatched from pure Ameraucana breedings to EEs due to a rogue recessive gene creating some unusual colored chicks.

There's one next to a white laced red Cornish and another in the upper left; they hatch with a pattern looking like silver backed gorillas:

They feather out, so far, as a mixed blend of grey and white:

SteveH- So sorry to learn of your great loss! What in the world are buffalo gnats and how do they affect chicks/chickens? I do like the blue colored chicks you have, what are they produced from? Charlie
