What kind of combs do your EE's have? I expected my pullets to grow a 3 row bumpy pea comb like their brothers did when they got to laying age, but one has a straight/pea cross comb (kinda neat, short and wavy) and the other 2 have big flat rectangles. Is that what pea combs look like on girls or do mine have sort of weird type of cushion comb? I'm very confused!

Btw, my orangey brown pretty girl (aptly named Pretty by my son when she was still a fuzzy baby and kinda ugly to my eyes!) and my silver mixed comb girls are both laying beautiful bluish green eggs! I was so excited when we first started getting them last week! And nice sized, too, I'd say a medium-large.

But oddly enough, my EE that looks exactly like a silver Ameraucana, except for her green legs, I think is laying a brown egg. Either that, or she hasn't laid yet and my supposed to be bantam Faverolle is laying a very large sized egg for her size (she's 2lbs 12oz, too big for a bantam, too small for a standard.) The egg in question is a little smaller than the green eggs I'm getting, but not much! Twice the size of my true bantam pullet's eggs. I'm hoping she just hasn't laid yet. Or that the reason I'm getting 2 green eggs a day is b/c none of them are laying daily.

Pea combs can vary quite a bit, especially in Easter Eggers. A picture could greatly help. Some girls do indeed though lack the bumps or rows, and seem to have an odd rose or cushion type comb, but, often it is still a pea comb.

I once had an Easter Egger who for the longest time I was convinced has a proper pea comb, but alas, it was actually more of a single comb, but with several side-springs on it, and it flopped over drastically.

Oh dear I forgot to hit EDIT hence double post sort of

In my incubator I have a few eggs from an Ameraucana over a gold spangled Hamburg pullet who lays a beautiful beige egg daily. I can't wait to see if I will have a EE from her who lays pale blueish eggs. Plus I love pea combs which both parents sport.

he knows they're hens, he likes to give them boy names 'cause of they're girls and it's okay for them to have boy names but it's not macho for a roo to have a sissy name. therefor they all get boy names

This is the best I could find on my phone. I'm at work.

I tried to edit it to zoom in on Pretty's comb, but my work computer won't let me open the editing link.

Maybe you can see it. I can try to get a better pic later. You can kinda see it's a big flat rectangle with some horizontal indents instead of the vertical indents I'd have expected from a pea comb. My other EE with the same comb only has one indent.

And that's Bob, our newish rooster. He's a sweetie, and Pretty is in love with him.
