The EE braggers thread!!!

One of my Favorite EE girls she is a Blue English Orpington x Ameraucana. Her name is Bristol, this was taken when she was about 4 months old. She lays a green egg. She looks grumpy here but she is the sweetest thing.

these 6 new babies finished up my official first flock today! I havent named them yet, but they are SO fat and spunky and cute!! already zipping around and got right in with the 2 week old and 1 week olds in the crate with them! they are already some of the friendliest chicks in the bunch!!

what are some of the first traits to look for to tell if they will be boys or girls? I am SO happy to finally get my hands on some EEs!! TSC is selling them at Americauna but I dont think that is right is it?

Is TSC a hatchery? If so, it's a red flag they aren't selling true ameraucanas, because they spelt ameraucana wrong (not americauna)!

Usually you can tell by week 3 or 4, the boys will have redder/slightly larger combs! Hard to tell if the comb is redder or larger unless one is a girl and one is a boy. Because if they are all girls or all boys then the comb will look the same on all of them

i spelled it wrong, not the store. Tractor Supply Company is where I got them, but I have seen a few posts now on this board that they dont sell true Ameraucana's? (i think i spelled that wrong again) and that they are in fact EEs? Either way, I love them to pieces and wanted to share~!!

So cute!!!! I would keep an eye on number 4, (s)he is colored just like my boy was. In my batch of EE chicks the first thing I noticed about my one boy is late feathering, especailly on the tail feathers. I don't know if that was just mine, or is a standard thing, but he was noticably slower to develope any tail feathers at all, a good 2 wks behind the girls.

OHH I see, sorry if I offended you by calling out your spelling lol (I have a few Ameraucanas and Ameraucana breeders are sensitive about their birds lol). But you spelled it correctly this time! Yeah most stores or hatcheries won't sell true ameraucanas! Only way to guarantee true Ameraucanas is by buying from a trusted breeder, usually found online (found on BYC). Or by taking pictures of their parents, posting them in the Ameraucana Forum thread then getting someone to verify the parenting birds are infact true amreaucanas. That being said, it's still hard for anyone to even call a bird a "true ameraucana" because the breed is still being perfected!
