The EE braggers thread!!!

Quote: That rule only works if there is Red on the wing... it can only be a roo. But since these are mixes they don't all have red. My EE didn't have any red and this guy looks like a Silver something.... like a birchen. He was really pretty, I would have loved to have had him in my EE flock. Someone referred to that as "natural culling" on another thread.

can anyone tell me if this is a pullet or cockerel? at 5 weeks, "he" was the first to make a sound other that a "peep", and by 8 weeks s/he had added a second tone and note. I have another EE cockerel (Barney ~ stalking into the top left corner of first pic) that is definitely a roo, and he started making the same exact sounds by 8 weeks and has been crowing vigorously even if a bit juvenile sounding daily, they all turned 11 weeks old today.
my confusion is this: Royce stopped making any sounds at all by 9 weeks. his comb is not continuing to grow, s/he is a rather large bird compared to my known pullets, but overall growth has significantly slowed and the pullets are catching up. Barney on the other hand, same exact age, is huge... I've believed Royce was a roo for quite some time, and now, after reading the first few years of this thread and looking at all the spectacular photos... I've seen hen pics that look just like "him"...

I'd love it if Royce needs another "e" to make it sound a little more girly... or a whole new name, my other are named Isis (pictured with Royce in the junk pile) Blu B'ree, and Lilly, all beautiful EE;s, Rose and Violet (RIR's or red sex links most likely) and Wilma and Betty (Barred Rocks)

there is definitely green in the tail. even though i would love it if Royce was a hen, he's staying home regardless, he's a very gentle bird and he has more hens in his harem than Barney...

today Royce proved himself! Barney is forever going after Royce's hens (after all, they are the most beautiful

) and Royce got ahold of Violet (one of Barney's girls) and tried to mount her! for a reward, he got first dibs at a huge slice of watermelon, and while he did not produce a crow, he made the first sounds I've heard in over 2 weeks, not just a bok, deeper, throatier... I'm so proud of him! Frankly, I am very glad he is what I believed he was from the beginning. A roo. He came from Murray Mac, called Araucana, which of course he's not with that big ole tail, but he's beardless and seems to be developing small tufts.

if i had just waited one more day, i would have known for sure, i'm thinking conspiracy here amongst the flock, what else will they fool me with next? can't wait to find out! lol ~ think they can get down to walmart to buy little plastic eggs to hide in the nest boxes? they've got what...? two months to figure that one out?!?

Pretty sure both of these are cockerel's. Looking to keep one of them as my first rooster for my girls. Any suggestions on which one to keep? I am leaning towards the black/white on the left.
