The EE braggers thread!!!

Hi, I just discovered this thread. I also discovered that I'm hen Mama to 2 EE's. I thought they were another breed, until I got to looking at various breed pictures. Ours are I think called wheaton colored. One has the slender head and the other has what IMO look like jowls. Both are docile and obviously let my son play with her.
They were hatched 3-17-12 from McMurray in a rainbow assortment package.

This is Hazel. Our other one is Maple Syrup {says the youngest} This picture was taken a couple of months ago. I can't get the ones I take with my Nikon to post. Any tips on that?

She is a typical EE pullet color, not Wheaten. Wheaten is kinda buff looking with black or blue in the tail and wings (I don't think you can see the blue and black very well in these pics)

Here are some I took today. Like the recycled feeder? My husband made it with a section of gutter. Any clue from the 2nd pic on what egg color they might lay?

da.

Maple. I swear she was cheesing.

I'm very pleased with my easter egger hens. They are the first ones to start laying, some of them are laying large sized eggs, and colors are great. Lots of double yolkers too.

One small hen lays a "chocolate mint" egg, which is green with brown specks. I'm not really sure who lays what, but I hope to figure it out eventually.

I love this picture. So does my youngest {5}. I was skimming through and looking at pictures. He said,"Mama! Look! It's an egg flower!"

My Three EE's...I love them. They all take after their mother, a sweet lovely chicken. She left behind Beautiful Chicken that I so love!
Prometheus the Roo(sweetest ever) I dont have to fight him!!!
Mrs.Lyles the beautiful black hen with beige partiridge on the neck..Acts just like her mother.
Ghost- sweet hen, but I think she's a mute. NEVER a single noise...nothing not even an egg song and I love the Blue and red.

Thanks for letting me share my babies.

USUALLY a pea comb would mean a blue/green egg, but there are no guarantees. Try to catch her in the act.
I'm leaning toward thinking it WAS MystyBlue, my silkie!

By this time next month Angel the white EE should be laying those pretty blue/green eggs.
god i love yur silkies and that egg is huge
Thank you-I love those little fluffy-butts too. Yes, my Buff Orp really outdid herself with that one! Buffy's eggs are usually just medium size.

I didn't read ther posts to the end but the smaller egg looks like a beautiful Silkie egg to me.

Yeah! I wasn't expecting an egg from my silkie until she was 8 months old, so such a nice surprise!
Cali chick, I didn't see anyone answer your question about the egg changing color, no if a chicken starts laying brown they will lay that color. When they start laying if they are going to lay blue or green the first egg will be that color.
Thank you Kassaundra. It must not have been the EE's egg than. I'm almost positive

my EE's will give me nice blue/green. They hatched out of blue/green eggs and do have pea combs and slate legs. Nobody commented whether or not they thought Angel looked like she could be laying either. But, I just have the feeling she isn't POL when I study her in person. Her comb is getting redder though so maybe a few more weeks.

MoonChild~ I have a blue hen that looks very much like your blue hen with the brown face. B/c of her ear lobe coloring I don't think she's an Andaleusian {sp}. She has a reddish earlobe. I'm wondering now if she too could be an EE,if thats what your blue one is. I'm new to this thread If anyone can help me determine her I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Are you trying to load them at full file size? If so the file is to big it would take a loooooooooooooooooong time per pic. Make the file size small then upload. Almost all the pics I take and post are taken with my nikon.
