The EE braggers thread!!!

I originally posted in this forum in April showing pics of my EE babies. Well they are no longer babies and one of them laid their first BEAUTIFUL blue egg for me yesterday. I need to get some better pictures of my pullets but I have a couple of good shots of my roo. Hope ya'll like them. He is a HOT MESS. He is a bantam EE but thinks that he is a full size chicken. He is full of himself, and gives the ladies he!!.

Yes I know, I am not worried about them not being Sex linked I knew they wouldn't and i will only be keeping the barred offspring and using them for breeding, I also love the black ones too and will be working with them as well. I just wish I could find an unrelated Black EE Roo to the gals I have that is roughly their same age.
Too bad I have 2-3 Solid Black EEs that I have to re-home. Opposite coasts, bummer I'm in NW Georgia

TODAY was Bath Day in the EE world...
My EE Roo watching over bath day.The black EE is my fave. She is so awesome! The other hen I thought was EE but I think she is JGxOrp mix. Love them all.

This is Ghost the silent EE. She's the Coolest Chicken!!! well she's a bit odd but COOL w/ BO to boot

And My d'Uccle hen is broody and I don't want any more d'Uccles so I gave her two EE eggs to hatch for me!!

LOVE the EE's

Ameraucanas don't have wattles. Not even the roos. So if they have that breed in their background that is why.
I am confused about this. What I do know to be true is that birds with beards do not have discernible wattles because the gene for beards replaced or beats out the gene for wattles. But not all EEs ha

hummm Interesting. I do not own many EEs but am in the process of breeding some with my Ameraucanas. So I really never noticed that all Ameraucanas do not have wattles since I thought that they do not because of their beards which is a fact that I have read several times on various sources. If you could attribute the lack of wattles to a specific gene I would understand. I have other birds with beards such as silkies and brabanters and they have tiny or no wattles.

Is it possible that a 14 week old EE could be a rooster and I don't know it yet? There is nothing about the way "Penguin" looks that makes me think she's a roo, but how she acts...

When I first got my original six chicks back in May, one of them, an Austra white, turned out to be more aggressive than the rest - chest-bumping and clearly the leader from the get-go. By the time he was 9 or 10 weeks old it was obvious she was a he, and we rehomed him.(Not only was he starting to crow, he had a clearly developed red comb already.) I got two new birds, a bit younger than my others - both EE's (my others are all Wyandottes.) One of them, the youngest of all, was not intimidated by the older birds - she wouldn't let them put her at the bottom of the pecking order. Now I see her chest-bumping with the others all the time! She's quite skittish and won't let me get close to her - here's the best I have for pictures.

There is nothing Roo-ish about her, is there?

Have not read the genetics of wattles or beards. I just know what I have had.....

This is not the best pic put I started with EE and most all didn't have beards, but none had wattles either. I have 2 barred EE that don't have beards, muffs or wattles. Pretty sure these were home made EE from off color or type Ameraucanas

This is a pure breed Wheaten Am.... beard and muffless and no wattles.... he is just kinda bald under his beak. No his feathers were not picked out. I had him for many months and he never had a beard.

It is very common for pure breed Ameraucanas to throw chicks without beards and muffs like the roo above. Something I will cull for when I find it. This roo was sold as a non standard Ameraucana to make EE.

I am breeding to beards and muffs in my EE, but I am not there yet.

My SBEL will sometimes have beards and muffs but they don't have wattles even without the beards. 2 have beards and 1 does not. They started laying a week or 2 after this picture.

Genetics are interesting..... and will do what they want!
