The EE braggers thread!!!

Pulled a hatch of 30 out of the incubator.hatcher on the 21th.
They were NN x EE and EE x NN ( I switched up my roosters on the hens.
18 non naked necks (look like EE's) and 12 Naked Necks (can't tell yet on what kind of combs they're gonna have). Lost one yesterday a NN.

I'll try to get pictures up soon. I thnk I'm gonna have a couple of blue barred (Cross fingers).

What are the biggest blue, blue/green egg layers you have or have seen? We started with some EE and some Wheaten & Blue Wheaten Ameracunas. We decided to not continue the Ameracunas but used both the Wheaten and Blue Wheaten roosters over the EE. That introduced some blue into the wild look of the EE and substantially increased the size of the birds.

We are also making some olive eggers and have placed a splash marans rooster over the EE. Of course this has increased size as well. None of the OE are mature so not sure what egg color will be or what ultimate size will be but I believe larger than the EE.

Now I am wondering how to further increase the size of the EE but keep or improve on the blue color of the eggs? Any suggestions would be appreciated. We have some lavender Ameracauna as well and they do lay the prettiest blue egg of all we have seen. However they are way too small for our personal tastes. We will likely cross some with the EE to see if the egg color improves but that will sacrifice size I am sure. Right now all I can think to do is cross the Wheaten rooster back over the new EE, some will be his offspring. Does anyone know if legbars are larger than Ameracuans? I would guess not since they were crossed with leghorns. Is the best path to just hatch the largest eggs then just breed the largest birds? Or is there another large breed to bring into the mix? Thanks in advance for any of your shared thughts.

Not sure myself how to increase size. I'm crossing to Polish on some of mine to put crests on and increase blue color in the egg shell. But I sure would like a little more size on my EE.

I like the bigger birds too so I plan on crossing my EE girls to my Brahma rooster in the Spring, but that would make green eggs...I wonder if I could do that cross and then cross those larger offspring to a true Ameraucana later on and those offspring might be both big and blue egg laying? I don't know.

I have Legbars and Easter Eggers and the Legbars are smaller, the Legbar roo is about the same size as the EE hens & I do not have any EE roosters

I actually like the smaller size of the EE! Speaking of EE's, does anybody else have an EE over 29 weeks old who has not laid eggs yet? Mine has no beard, and her comb is still not very big. Just wondered if it is the type of mixed breed she is from. Wondered if other peoples older non-laying EE's look similar. Here is my non-laying chicken!

This was taken about 3 weeks ago and she is actually a little more red faced than this...,.but she is not squatting or anything! How old is your non-laying EE????
