I have one im almost positive isnt laying and she is almost 31 weeks, She looks different than yours though.I actually like the smaller size of the EE! Speaking of EE's, does anybody else have an EE over 29 weeks old who has not laid eggs yet? Mine has no beard, and her comb is still not very big. Just wondered if it is the type of mixed breed she is from. Wondered if other peoples older non-laying EE's look similar. Here is my non-laying chicken!
This was taken about 3 weeks ago and she is actually a little more red faced than this...,.but she is not squatting or anything! How old is your non-laying EE????
I don't know about the Orpingtons. I think they would bring in a more olive/green egg.I had an EE pullet that didn't lay till 10-11 monthsIt has to do with the sun too and it might take them longer the further in to the fall we get.![]()
EGG COLOR. Wheatens are know to lay the BLUES of eggs of the AMS. So if you have wheatens, keep breeding them. My Wheatens are the WORST layers and the SMALLEST AMS I have so not sure that will get you in the right directions. The good think about EE.... you can mix anything in and they will still be EE![]()
For size..... Marans would help, but that would not keep the BLUE EGG thing going..... You would need a Large bird that laid a blue egg or a white egg....... hum..... My wyandottes lay a very light color brown egg, I think Brahmas do too...... Orpingtons?
Quote: They are brown egg layers too, I don't know how brown. I don't have any laying. I don't know of any blue or white egg layers that would bring size sorry.
Perhaps she has Wyandotte in her....they are slow to mature.I actually like the smaller size of the EE! Speaking of EE's, does anybody else have an EE over 29 weeks old who has not laid eggs yet? The lighter the brown the less green the eggs will be. Then pick the bluest layers with some size and breed them back with the wheatens
