Thanks for the info!That's a great question, and I'm sure there are folks who know better than I do. I think you have to make sure the desired traits you want to keep (ie comb type, beards, color, egg color) are present in your breeding stock to start. But then it's just like any breeding program. It takes many generations and careful record keeping to produce your goal. Remember, all breeds of modern domestic chickens started out as something else and are the result selective breeding.
