Just make sure that the humidity level is high since they can get stuck if the tisses get dried. Sometimes it takes 24 hours for a chick to make it all the way out.

I bought an Ameraucana EE (buff x wheaten) from a breeder who is working toward a bright turquoise egg. Impatiently waiting for my pullet to lay! Thanks for the info!
I know Olive eggers are a popular cross with Marans are their any other colors people have success with?

Oh such a cute babyThank you. It is high now. I was afraid maybe too high--75%, but....
One chick hatched and is dry so it's ok!! And another just hatched so she's still wet.![]()
Two baby EE's!! Woot! They are both the silkie eggs. The first hatcher is blue too! She has feathered feet, and a beard and muffs! So Freakin' Cute!!
Nothing yet on the barred rock or australorp eggs. Hope they're ok. It is only day 20.

Oh such a cute babyWhat does a silkie x EE look like as an adult?![]()
One of my girls must have started laying yesterday - I found two eggs today in the nest box. I'm assuming they're coming from my 8.5 month old pullet, her comb is the most developed. It took her long enough! I have two other EE's that are a month younger, I hope they start soon.
I am not sure what to call the color, but I like it!

I'm not, just anxious. The rest of my girls have been laying for 2-3 months now. Just excited for colorful eggs instead of brown. Although my red star left me this giant 2 weeks agoQuote:
I have 2 pullets over 7 months that have not started yet either. It will happen, but I can hardly wait to see the egg color. Such suspense.
Oh, and my Welsummer laid her first egg today. She is over 8.5 months! Don't give up hope!
