The EE braggers thread!!!

OMG! What is wrong with me!?! I have 11 hens in the coop/run, 9 in the brooder and 15 eggs in the incubator.....and yet when I went to the Tractor Supply, I had to come home with these two cutie EEs. With cheeks like that, who can resist, right? And the craziest thing is that my DH was with me and let me do it!!!

Haha! They are irresistible aren't they? I had the same moment of weakness last week, except I came home with 5! Don't feel too bad, these chickens are soooo addicting!

Ah, yes - if you had said that I wouldn't have assumed it was a fox. AND the information about the dog coming out with feathers - yes..

I am glad the neighbor agreed to keep his dog in - I think if I had seen the dog come out of my coop it would have been dog disposal time too.

Sorry about your hen, why is it always the favorites that get caught?

OK, I have a couple of really pretty girls that are out of EE hens (don't know what their mamas looked like) and a Lavender Orpington roo. I love their gold and soft grey feathering and would like some more.

I have two young EE roos that may or maynot be somewhat related to them. (probably not, but possible through the hens line). One boy is mostly red, with some black and some lacing on his chest. The other boy has a lot of darker red, with soft grey and his hackles are white/blonde and his breast is red and grey with lacing.

I know I might not get more like these girls in the first generation but wondering which boy might give me the best chances of a nice son to breed back to the mothers for a chance of the pretty gold and grey in the second generation?

I'm leaning towards the red boy myself. then I think about how the other boy already has some grey on him. Both are young and have nice pea combs

I agree with the grey boy - that is either the lavender coloring or a blue gene that gives the lovely grey. The Red and Black boy doesn't sound like he has either the "blue" or the "lavender" gene - but the lavender could be hidden.
