The EE braggers thread!!!

Got my first egg from our EE (Scully) today....and our our second!

I found the pointy green egg this morning and noticed that Scully was sitting in the other nesting box and wouldn't leave. Fearing she was going broody, I kept pushing her out of the nest to join the others, and she finally went. Later in the afternoon, I found that she had gone back and laid her second green egg! I feel so guilty about kicking her out of her nest!

Brown eggs in the pic are from our Columbian Wyandotte and Barred Rock...white are store bought large.

and here's Scully!

Hey guys, had my first clutch from my own flock hatch in the last 48 hrs so I wanted to share some cuteness!

Here's what I was working with for breeding pairs:

And here's the four that hatched out! Two from each mother.

I think they look quite a bit like daddy, what do you think? The chipmunk one is pretty obvious who she belongs to isn't it. There were two of those ones, the other pipped the wrong end of the shell and didn't make it. Such a shame, she was really pretty. Lots of black streaks.
super cute and I love that hen !!!

Cashew one of my EE'rs flew to the tree to avoid the Dusting of Snow!!!! All the others went right back in.... she refused to budge so we had to scoop her up and put her back on the ground where there wasn't any snow...haaaa

THANKS!

I ordered from Arcana linked from Amazon - $12.57 after $3.65 shipping. The price at MPC was $1 less but their cheapest shipping was more than the product!

Hey all an updated picture of my Angel, my bearded eye browed EE pullet she lays me the bluest egg out a all my ee girls.......

She is a beautiful bird!

Oh my gosh, that is hilarious! She's so cute, and I LOVE the name!

Re: the new babies thing- I have a mixed flock with no severe bullies, but definitely some very strong opinions... I have 4 EE's, 2 BR's, 1 BO, 1 silkie and I had to introduce 3 baby Lorps to them a couple months ago. What I did @ 5 weeks: stuck an XL wire dog crate in the coop with food/water/small roost for them and left it locked for a week or two. After the second week I propped the door open enough for the babies to go in/out but not wide enough for the big girls to get in (used an old cinder brick to prop it). They mostly stayed in the crate but started venturing out on their own over the course of 2 weeks. They very rarely got cornered without being able to escape to the crate, and they seemed very aware that this was their safe spot after 2 weeks of being locked up. Now they are 4 months old and are mostly integrated. I took the dog crate out after they started roosting with the "big girls."

The original 7 birds mostly came in together at about a week old (the silkie was older, but she doesn't really participate in pecking order- not sure they recognize her as a bird :p). They sort of ordered themselves by size- the barred rocks and the orp are the bosses of everyone :)

Well I originally logged on because I was super excited to see a PINK and GREEN egg on my coop floor today :D These are my first EE eggs ever! Although, I realized I already had a pink in my basket from sometime last week- I thought the orp had just laid two in one day and the second didn't have time to develop color but NOPE!

My EE girls are 29 weeks old today-ish. I think two are laying (as of this week) and two are still holding out.

Starting at the top going clockwise: BR, BO, Pink EE, Green EE :D

They seem HUGE for pullet eggs but jeez louise- just looking through this thread it looks like EE's tend to lay a large first egg? Has anyone else found this to be the case? My other girls laid 2/3 size eggs to start.

I think this sweet girl is the green layer (Kava for coffee, because she was a coffee colored chick :D). She has a pea comb and I caught her in nesting in the corner of the coop the other day.

I am pretty sure this one (Meme, because she's goofy and makes great internet meme-type expressive poses :p) laid the pink egg- I'm mostly guessing based on comb... since the others have a pea... but who knows!

My other two EE girls (the sweetest, most personable two) haven't laid yet- at least I don't think they have. They aren't squatting like these two. All are from Cackle and all 4 are EXTREMELY varied in personality and color/body shape/size, etc :)

Edited to add pics of the other two who I don't think are laying yet. Couldn't help myself:

Maimai or May - which means little sister (because Meme has similar coloring but has always been much more... uh... rotund?):

Zoet - looking for a lap to nap in while I have a morning coffee (total velcro chicken):
