The EE braggers thread!!!

I am just curious, my EE's have beards but they don't seem near as full as some of the pics on here. Does the fullness come with age or are the EE's on here with full face of feathers have a beard AND muffs/tufts(or whatever they are called) Just interested as ever since I saw an EE with a black beard I have wanted one so I could call her black beard and yeay surprise my EE chick has a BLACK BEARD!!!! BUT she doesn't look like it's going to be one of those nice full beards.

aww I have a pullet(3/4mths in photo & 5mths old now) named Lady Black Beard! She doesn't have the biggest beard but how can you pass up a chance at naming a hen/rooster black beard when possible??!?!?!

Why are you repeat posting other people's posts? Especially the original one for the thread 9,000 posts ago?

And since I'm typing, PLEASE do not post a bunch of individual "oh pretty" type replies, especially if you aren't going to quote the original. If you want to reply to multiple posts, click the "multi" button on all but one and click the "quote" button on the last one. Then you can reply to them all in one post.

And, since I'm sure you've seen it done, please delete unnecessary parts of a post you quote, especially all the pictures of pic heavy posts. All the extra stuff makes following the forums take so much more effort.

Thanks,
Bruce
Though I agree , Perhaps a nicer way of putting it would be to use the multi quote button.

i thought that both of the pullets (below) were americanas but i saw a couple pictures that make me think that they are EEs. Especially the tan one (2nd pic).

someone told me that she is and EE and she definatley looks like one to me but she doesnt have little beard or anything like that.
Could some one tell for sure which chicken is which breed.

So many people say that EEs look like hawks. When I first saw Lady Black Beard, I thought she looked like a raven. Very cool!

That's an interesting color. Blue/red splash? (I don't know my colors!) Do you have a picture of his face? I've seen so many dark beards on light chickens, but the white beard on a darker color looks striking. Very pretty!

The photos make it hard to see the true colors, but I think they are all EEs. Even a purebred Ameraucana that doesn't meet the color standard would be lumped in with the EEs. You can look on the breeders club website to see the accepted colors. http://www.ameraucana.org/scrapbook.html No muffs/beard is an EE. Also, check the bottoms of their feet for any sign of yellow on the pads. Green legs are not allowed for Ams, and the yellow indicates a mix.

8 months is a long time to start laying, but certainly not unheard of. It's probably the lack of sunlight. When the days start getting longer after Christmas, that might help them along. Also, make sure they get adequate protein in their feed and no calcium supplement (often included in layer feed) until they have started laying. Extra unneeded calcium is not good for them and can cause problems.

They are all pretty girls and look to have pea combs, so you will probably get lovely green-blue eggs soon. Good luck!

WOW!!!! Now I want another one! Maybe I should anyway, I was supposed to have 2 EE chicks in the last batch but she didn't make it

. I agree with the other poster, she looks like a raven, BEAUTIFUL! I also like the LADY Black Beard sounds so much more feminine

How is her comb not red?

I had a question about khaki or grey colored eggs, would they come from olive eggers? My SIL has a hen that lays grey colored eggs and she got it from a friend who moved away so no way to find out what it is. My SIL doesn't even know what chicken it is coming from. I was thinking I could breed my 3 EE's and my blue(splash?) Marans rooster. I was considering maybe putting them together and seeing what I would get.
