The EE braggers thread!!!

Three different types of combs... but only one opinion in regards to their first 2" snow...

I call it "perplexed" but I'm pretty sure the girls refer to it as "**** that!"

Actually, I am curious: would you consider Zoet's comb to be a pea comb? It has no points at all- it's an accordion folded sort of thing... like old fashioned ribbon candy. I wish I had a better pic (can take one tomorrow if that would be helpful).

Zoet = Dutch for "sweet." She is the ultimate lap bird. It seems fitting for her to have a ribbon candy comb...

Looks like a modified pea comb to me.

I don't post in the Ameraucana forum here. I posted this little one's hatch picture 8 weeks ago. Here she is this weekend. We call her Dovely. She's a splash Ameraucana bantam.

Oh and we were discussing blue and black. I couldn't tell the difference at hatch. 3 are blue, 2 are black and 3 are splash.

My EEs comb looks similar Im guessing its from a cross of a pea comb and a single comb

I don't think she is splash. She is blue. Blues will have the dark feathers sometimes too. Splash are WHITE at hatch really. They feather in white with black or blue spots.

Splash Rock

Splash Copper Marans roos

Above roo at hatch

Splash Rock

The whiter they are the more likely they are second generation. Splash should have lots of the flecks of color and not be washed out like some of these in the pics. The TOP Cuckoo Roo he is probably second Generation and from a splash mating. The second Cuckoo roo is first gen. My Rocks are probably second gen splash... well the one that is really pale is anyway.

I have several Blues that have those dark feathers but they are NOT splash.....

LEG COLOR..... WHAT color are her legs? Thea is a key too. In Marans they are WHITE, no color really, maybe blue but not slate like a reg marans I would think they would be the same color in Ameraucanas too.

She is splash. Was cream at hatch. Her legs are grey. Not dark though. Pinkish and they have freckles on them. It's hard to explain!

Here she is at hatch

These are my blues (see splash in back?)

One of the blue babies.

My blue rooster.
