Cute chick chicken pickin

Bruce

Ah, My husband's home town is St. J... Kinda right across from you... His sister lives near White River Juct. in NH... Someday we'll head back up that way... We love VT... =P

My EEs comb looks similar Im guessing its from a cross of a pea comb and a single comb

Totally! Pretty girl too!

OOH! I say we establish an official name for this comb type...

Ribbon Comb
Noodle Comb
Pompadour Comb

(lol?)

I like Noodle comb.

In this episode, Advanced holding techniques.

Here, Popcorn demonstrates the proper form of a common chicken holding technique on her EE, Buttons, known as the "dangle grip". It is so named by the obvious way the legs and feet of the chicken dangle freely about beneath the hand of the person holding the chicken. The dangle grip is best used on the more docile breeds as it has proven ineffective on the more flighty breeds such as the Leghorn. Many attempts were made to hold a leghorn using the dangle grip technique, but this merely resulted in a plethora of chicken scratches up one side of the arm and down the other and the mildly perturbed, mocking squawks from said leghorn.

Be sure to tune in next thursday when we demonstrate more advanced poultry techniques.

I too am an advanced chicken dangler... 2 of my EE's, my silkie, 1 BR and two of my Lorps allow this (with an accompanying look (also demonstrated above) that can be interpreted as either "silent confusion" or "intense concentration").

She is lovely! I just put 15 in my bator! ;)
Hi Kara! Shes one of yours I hatch at Christmas. They are all super cute I hope at least 2 turn out to be gitrls. I have a batch of eggs coming in hopefully today of EE, OE, pure ameraucana and hopefully marans or welsummers. Ill set them on Sun.

You will definitely have to keep everyone updated on your eggs. I am going to be setting 42 eggs this evening. Try to continue some of my late chicken's legacies :( coyote attack took a few of them. I thought 1 of my 2 adult EE hens was lost in the tragic event but it turns out she must have went off to hide somewhere, she turned up today & I couldn't be happier that there was one less lost.

Any eggs that I have that are fertile will be ee crosses- since I don't think my little bantam roos have been able to do anything with my full size ladies.

Hiya, it's been a while since I posted on this thread but my chickens are getting bigger, they now 22 weeks old. Here is a picture of them. 5 of them are EE's, the other 2 are B Aussies.

The cockeral is my baby! He is so so so gentle. I had 2 roo's and only wanted to keep one, the other was a B Aussie and he was boss, but I loved CordonBleu so I couldn't part with him. The BA was the same age but much bigger and already crowed. He has been gone about a month but I have yet to hear CordonBleu crow. He is so gentle, wants me to pick him up, loves for me to pet him, never tries to get out of my hands when I put him down like the rest of the chickens, he has never hurt me. Have I made a sissy roo out of him? I had a talk with him and told him that he has to man up soon because he has 6 hens to take care of...

Anyway, here is a pic of my girls with their sissyboy! :) MollieB and Doosya (who is my other sweetheart) are the BA's but I am sure ya'll can tell.

i know alot of people seem to talk down about EEs (blah on them) hehe but I ADORE mine!! SO much so that hubby and I are buying a bunch more this year. We only have one.. but gosh.. ChickZilla is def one of my faves. What a pretty girl :D

Shes from MMH. How much do the EEs from Ideal differ in appearnce from her? we were thinking of ordering from Idea and driving to get them this year rather than shipping. I know they are always kinda a toss up... but we just love how she looks.

Hey I was wondering who has pink eggs. My mother-in-law needs some new blood in her EE flock and asked if I could find her some "Pink eggers" She as blue, green, olive and light brown, but has never had pink. Please let me know what you have, or even if you know what to mix to get a pink egg. Thank you so much.

Hi, I'm getting more EEs from the feed store this spring, and they only ever have the partridge colored hens. I have only ever gotten hens, and I'm wondering what the partridge roosters look like? Pictures would be awesome :)
