The EE braggers thread!!!

As I've posted in the Araucana and RIR threads, I got 13 chicks recently, mixed breed chicks from a flock of EE, Araucana, Marans, and RIR. I'm pretty sure most of them are just going to be called EEs, especially until we see their egg colors, because it seems difficult to my inexperienced eye to tell some of the subtle differences between breeds (other than the obvious cheek tufts, rumplessness, feathered legs). Here are 3 from today that are very distinct from the rest. They are a little over 3 weeks old.

Hank- he seems like a boy to me. His legs are very white too, I think he's the only chick with white legs.

Poe. I'm hoping this one is a girl because I really love her coloring and she's the most friendly with me:

Penny. At first I thought boy, but she seems to be growing into her legs. I don't know, she sure is pretty in any case;

wonderful coloring

Thanks for the insight ChickNMamma! I'm really excited about the third, Penny. She started looking like a bigger version of Hank, but feathered out so much faster. Maybe she has some Rhode Island Red in her and that's why her coloring is so different? I guess we'll know if she lays brown eggs. Here they are together at week 1 and 2. I thought for sure they were going to look alike as they got older:

Thanks Hangtown Farms! Hey, you're in one of my favorite places. I'm a handspinner and the past 3 years I've visited Lexi Boeger at Boeger Winery in the summertime for a spinning retreat. What a wonderful place to live.

Nice I enjoy Jack Russell brewery which is just up the road. I live a little up the hill from there where the summers are milder and the winters cooler. Well not like where you are though lol.
It is a great gardening region

I agree, that is very hard to deal with.. How do you manage to get through it 3 times??
Guts. Determination. Faith.
24 years old, dx Lukemia.
Treated, relapsed at 27.
Then chemo and Bone Marrow Transplant, oldest survivor using your own marrow, no longer practiced.
Horrible years of recovery. That intensive/aggressive chemo left me sterile. Bummer, but living.
Then discovered I had a virus from the numerous blood transfusions from the 2 previous chemo regimens years ago due to chemo. (Hep C)
3rd round of experimental chemo and 2 other drugs (at 49 years old) in attempt to cure Hep C virus...Did I say experimental? Just now making that recovery from life threatening side effects! They are no longer using that medication protocol, but, I am virus free! Yoohoo!
Can't tell you how many times I thought I would lose it! Anxiety, I think was one thing that kept my heart beating (haha-didn't help the blood pressure).
It's weird, sometimes it's the small things that get me spinning. . .being a nurse (yeah, can you believe it) has helped me focus on others.
But there are so many other people who been through more in diferrent ways, but painful just the same.
Take care of yourself, OK?

the crosses with the pea combs should lay the green or olive eggs depending on what was crossed

Penny has a tail - all my EEs that had a long tail early were girls. There is hope that SHE will lay a nice green egg!

I happened to randomly buy this chicken from a lady who I saw on the side of the road selling a variety of chickens. I paid $12 for her, which I thought was a pretty good bargain considering she is such a good and consistent egg layer. I was informed that she is an EE. I really didn't know anything about them before I got her. Just curious what everyone thinks of her quality? Not that it really matters to us, but I was just wondering. Excuse the blurry cell phone pics but that's all I have of her now. These pics were taken about 2 months ago the day we got her.
