I have several non-bearded hens and some EE's with beards,whenever I cross the non-bearded hens with my red bearded EE rooster,I ALWAYS get bearded chicks!

That was something I was interested in. I think the reason mine all have beards is because my EE had full muffs and beard. If he had small beard some would have small beards and some would be clean faced. I think that may be right.

That's good to know! I hope I get all bearded chicks from the eggs I hatch in the spring.

The beard gene is dominant . So if he has 2 copies of the gene then 100% of his chicks will be bearded with 1 copy of the beard gene when mated to non bearded hens . If he has 1 copy of the beard gene then 50% bearded chicks with 1 copy of the bearded gene when mated to non bearded hens .

Yes a small beard usually means 1 copy of the beard gene . Thanks for your comments on my explanations . I like sharing information . Not interested in conflict . I can sometimes make mistakes but try I to give the best info that I can .

Ok thanks! You are really helping me understand EE's more! I guess I will have to just wait and see what I get. It is just a guessing game with EE's.
