I just recently started getting an olive egg. Very unexpected! I thought all the hatchery girls were laying. Then I hatched their green eggs that were fertilized by my hatchery EE cockerel and was expecting to just get more of the same mint green colors.

Does anyone have EEs that lay a speckled green egg? I have one that has small white flecks but they don't show up on camera.

I have one EE that lays a occasional egg with whitish specks on it too.

A very unusual color pattern for a pullet . Normally red in the shoulder area means cockerel . I say pullet on this one .

Question:

I got what I believe is my first egg from my Maran x Americana.

Just aqua colored? I was thinking with the maran they would be more olive. Any thoughts?

I got these from someone else. The hens look like marans with tufts, so I assume they are what she says they are.

Sounds like what you got is not a first generation cross . Likely a F2 generation or a back cross to Ameraucana . This would account for the egg color .

Everything looks like a pullet except the coloring. I would keep watching, but at this point looks like a pullet.

Sounds like what you got is not a first generation cross . Likely a F2 generation or a back cross to Ameraucana . This would account for the egg color .

That's my thinking. SHe says they are F1. I'm going to isolate these hens to be sure what's going on.

Guys, I do not have EE's anymore!!! My dog killed all 5 of the only ones i had!!

So, I have to leave this thread

but I'm planning on getting more so I'll join again when i get them
