The EE braggers thread!!!

SO happy to find this thread! I got one EE in a rare pullet assortment last August from MPC. Meet Sweet Cheeks! These chickens are SO uncooperative when the camera comes out... :/ Three and a half weeks ago, I picked up six EE chicks (supposedly pullets) from Aroostook Milling Co. They are each quite different. Only one had puffy cheeks at the time.Two are rumpies and another one is starting to show cheek puffs. Then two weeks ago, I got a double Surprise Package from Cackle. I'm hoping I have at least a dozen EEs and that only a couple of those will be roos! I'm really uncertain what all of those chipmunk-striped chicks will turn out to be. I'm calling this one Trump! I think these are all EEs. Please correct me if I'm wrong! I'm a fairly novice chicken wrangler.

Sweet Cheeks is gorgeous! And the chicks are adorable! Please continue to post pics as they grow, I love EE's! Updated pics of Henny and Arlo:

I love the infinite variety of EEs. Henny and Sweet Cheeks probably looked a lot alike as chicks but they are now clearly distinct individuals. (SC has a much fuller beard now.)

One of the Tweens has the leopard spots on her head that one of the Tinies has. I doubt very much that they will look alike as adults.

I still have more than a thousand pages of pics to look through here.

I love the infinite varieties too! There's so many colors! I think that EE's can come in more color varieties than any other chicken breed out there. And they're all very pretty! We had four EE's including Henny and Arlo, but unfortunately two of them were cockerels that were very protective of their ladies so we had to get rid of them. We have little kids coming over a lot so we can't have any aggressive birds. It was a shame though because these ones had beards. I have tons of pictures to look through too on this thread!

Very pretty! Ryka looks similar to my Henny when she was a chick, but really they could look like completely different when mature. I've never heard of the blue under the wings.......

I'm only using a phone so it's hard to see, but that gray/blue on the under side could be the waxy pin shafts over a dark feather? She might have some black or dark brown feathers coming in. My Phoenix with black feathers had blue pin shafts as they came in. You'll probably find out for sure tonight or tomorrow morning, they grow so fast!

I'm on my mobile and can't see the details well but I assume you are talking about those hard, pointy things? If so those are pin feathers . Perfectly normal. She will preen the casings off when the time is right.

Ah, makes sense! New to chickens -- and birds in general. Yes, she definitely has black feathers coming in so makes sense it's just a pin shaft over the dark ones coming in. Funny how quickly they turn into awkward teens and completely transform from that chipmunk pattern!

And Henny and Arlo are beautiful !! I hope I am as lucky with my lil ones
