I haven't posted on this thread in a looooong time. My first chickens were EE, but I had a huge preditor attack and lost almost all of them. The few surviving chicks had EE heritage but none "looked" like EE, that was several years (generations) ago this year's chicks had these two.



I know this one doesn't have the beard and muffs, but her coloring is definitely from my EE.

That first one is easily one of the most beautiful birds I've ever seen. How stunning.

My April EE chicks, all grown up (not laying yet though). Strawberry Shortcake Smokey (the Bird). She just decided to jump up on my shoulder. I have never had a chicken do that before! ObLaDi and ObLaDa As they are a mixed breed to begin with, and from a commercial hatchery to boot, what are the chances of getting two almost identical EE's in the same shipment? I was wracking my brain for weeks trying to come up with names that would reflect their twin-like appearance. It came to me from the radio while I was building their coop / run. "In a couple of [months], they had built their home sweet home..." The Cuckoo Marans is doing well too, although she she has turned out to be less 'Cuckoo' than 'Covered With Stars'. So, I named her after the Egyptian goddess of the night sky; Nut (pronounced 'noot')

All are lovely. Clever naming.

I bought 3 chicks the first of April. My Delaware started laying in September. My Cochin in October, and my EE still hasn't started.Am I just over anxious? I'm looking forward to the colored eggs.

Pretty set of girls. Did you get any eggs yet?

Strikingly pretty colors! It looks like the second one has a black comb. Is that unusual for an EE? I just love seeing everyone's beautiful chickens.

Yes normal EE do not have fm (black or dark skin) some of the South American "cousins" do however. My flock has a lot of fm mixed in.

Thanks, I was surprised by the quality of her muffs and beard since it is not so much in my flock now. Some of her GGGgrandparents had nice beards though.

Those birds are so beautiful and your pictures are amazing I'm the worst photographer I'm always envious!!!!
