The EE braggers thread!!!

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

So some EE lay blue eggs some lay pink etc? So she will ONLY lay green eggs? And no other color? I though EE layed Pink, Brown, Green, and Blue eggs? So they don't?

Each Easter Egger lays one color, and only that color of egg. If she lays one green one, they will all be green. If she lays a pink one, they will all be pink. Each bird can only lay one color.

Does that make sense?

I've got one pink and one brown egg layer. Funny thing is their color pattern/leggs/earlobes are the same as the green egg layers. they all came from the same hatchery too.

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

Julia's egg compared with a BO egg. What do you think? Standard or bantam egg?

My guess is a banty egg from a BEAUTIFUL banty hen.???

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

One more question: Will Julia ONLY lay green eggs, or will she also lay blue, pink eggs, etc?

Contrary to popular belief, a hen's egg color can and does sometimes change. I'm not sure how common it is, but we have one EE girl who's eggs did just that. When we first got her, she layed a olive green egg. Then towards the end of her laying cycle (last season), her eggs started to lighten. Nowadays, her eggs are the most beautiful shade of light blue. They're on par with our purebred white Ameraucana hen's egg.

It will be fun to see how many she lays.

Four out of my 5 laying EEs lay olive green eggs - some darker than others. I still have 6 young EEs that are due to start laying anytime now.

The green & blue/green eggs in this photo are from my first 3 EEs - 2 lay olive colored eggs, 1 lays a blue/green eggs (the pics shows their pullet eggs - the largest green egg was a double yolker)

This pic shows some more of my EE eggs (the 5 green & blue ones in the middle) along with the eggs from my 2 new ameraucanas (the two eggs on the right). The very pale light blue eggs are from one of my EEs - she is due for a molt and her eggs should start getting a little darker after she molts (plus, they look a little lighter in the sunshine).
