I'm dropping in this little post because it 4:15am and I need to go to bed. From what I read on the first post, this is the place for me!! I don't care what you call them, I just want their pretty col mored eggs. Enough to make decorations for my mom's christmas tree next year!!

Back later when I can see what I am typing

If you go back to page 1 , post 2 , there are a pair of EE that appear to be typical Silkie crosses .

Oh, wow! They are gorgeous! Crested EEs!? Thanks!

hi, all 1st time on this thread ( I think lol) I haven't read through the whole thread so forgive me if I state something already covered. I have my 1st ee's eggs I hatched from someone else 2 pullets and a roo still in question whether my production red had a ameraucana father or not doesn't matter he's going to freezer camp, but I notice that from the ameraucana blood you get the muffs and beard but also they have like a mane of feathers I don't know what else to call it. mine are 13 weeks now

I read somewhere that , in a percentage of those pure for tufts , the nodule that the tufts grow on develope inward into the brain of the developing chick , killing the chick in the later stages of developement while still in the egg . I don;t know if this is true or not .

if you read araucana under breeds it tells about the lethal gene, not much mind I guess its just safer to take the experts word on it lol

This is a Silkie/OEGB X and is essentially identical to what you can expect a Silkie/EE X to look like because he has the beard from the Silkie...

I have considered using him to make crested EEs, but the issue comes in successive generations when trying to isolate the desired traits and lose the undesired traits, such as that disgusting 5th toe and the disgusting silkied feathers that will come up, while keeping the crest. And also I think it'll be hard to get the walnut comb back to a pea comb. There are other crested birds, even S. American ones, that don't have these issues.
