The EE braggers thread!!!

Hard to tell from how they 'look' but, if you got them from the Bothel Feed Store, I can tell you mine lays a greyish green egg.

I got mine from Webster Feed Store in Graham, my Uncle owns the feed store. I am getting green eggs now.

Yay! I just read through the thread after not checking it for a few weeks. Also just noticed that I didn't read your post closely enough to see where your uncle got them. If he's from here, most people order from Privett as it has been the closest big hatchery to us. But there is a guy starting a hatchery in E. WA.

He did say it was a local hatchery that hatches year round, I didn't ask for the name & haven't had time to chat with him lately. I do like the quality of the chicks he got, turned out to be big birds. The 3 I got from a guy in Orting who also orders from a hatchery is poor body quality, small birds (RIR & GLW). Not that I was looking for quality at the time. If I need more & don't have a certain breed in mind I will get from my Uncle.

Yeah, not the guy that lists on Craigslist. This is a supposedly high quality breeder (Paul ?) who actually shows his birds and wins (a lot). But I have no experience. We only have 7 girls- and only 2 are non-hatchery.

Here are some pics of a cross between an Ideal Poultry Partridge Chantecler rooster and a group of Ideal Poultry Ameraucana (NSC -non standard color.) All of the NSC Ameraucana lay very blue large eggs and have muffs, beards, and slate legs. The Chantecler was a medium sized bird but very heavy and large breasted. We hoped to have poultry with small combs and wattles that would lay green eggs. We also hoped to have poultry that would lay well and also be setters. The flock is in Kentucky and winter has been tough on the single comb types.

We incubated 7 eggs that hatched May 30. Two rooster and one hen. The cockerels began to crow at 7 weeks and developed quickly into 4.5 lbs at 16 weeks. They had pea combs and small wattles but no beards or muffs. The hen had no wattles but has a muff and beard. All had yellow legs. We kept that hen and she started to lay green eggs at exactly 24 weeks.

We found about 30 eggs hidden in the barn in July. It was 95 degrees everyday so we incubated them all. Eight hatched August 19. Two cockerels and 6 pullets. Four of the pullets have muffs and beards, two have small wattles and no muffs or beards. Both cockerels have muffs and beards but no wattles. The pullets started to lay recently at exactly 20 and 21 weeks. The eggs are medium pullet eggs and look like they will eventually lay large eggs. They have been raised entirely on natural light.

We are breeding the White and red cockerel with the pea comb to all the new flock including the remaining NSC Ameraucanas. We’re trying for a sustainable flock giving medium to large eggs, having cushion or pea combs no wattles, and a more Chantecler body. And of course we call them Chantecana

I think it is fair to just simple call them Easter Eggers. . . This is an EE thread after all.

Non standard colored Ameraucanas would at least have beard/muffs and SLATE legs.

Very pretty birds though. I need to get some photos of mine tomorrow. They've really been taking advantage of our sun and the sudden findings that they have a whole huge pasture to roam lately.

I think the NSC Ameraucanas they're talking about are the parent stock of the EEs shown? (The EEs being the non-bearded ones and the other birds after the first two pictures.)

And I agree, nice looking birds! Chanteclers are so handsome. That one dark cockerel almost looks Dark Cornish doesn't it!

Nice birds! I have an affinity for the Chantecler look now... my little red girl is a "handsome" bird... not cute or girly. Great EEs!

chickenrose, I love the white hen and the hen in pic. 7 and also the roo in pic. 10! My EEs are probably my favorite birds of my flock----hard to choose though. I finally came up with a name that fits my blue EE hen---her name is Bonnie Blue. She is the sweetest hen I have---well, out of my standards. Still need to come up with a name for my EE roo!
