The EE braggers thread!!!

Yesterday my Son came by to check on me and saw my LGD with something in her mouth. Turns out it was a fresh hatched chick. She is OK with grown birds., BUTT for some reason the small ones she wont tolerate.
Dave got the chick from her, just had a scratch on it's hip. It is a nice blue. Anyway he finds the hidden nest, grabs a box and starts catching chicks. Ended up with 14 chicks out of 16 eggs. I had just gotten 5 Swedish Flower chicks in the mail Tuesday, so I lit up the brooder pen next to them, get them some water and feed and turned on the heat lamp and we put the new kids in. They started eating and drinking after all of 2 minutes. On my way out to check on them in a few.

The new babies.

They already have puffy cheeks, at least I think I see muffs and beards compared to the Swedish Flower Hen chicks.

For comparison. The Swedish Flower Hen chicks.
Please disregard my comment!

LGD, livestock guard dog, no I don't think my dog hatched the chicks<g> BUTT I think she was trying to eat it.
There were 2 eggs left in the nest and the hen seems to have hatched another one. Was brown egg., All my roosters are Ameracana or EE. The new chick was lavender.

I have to start all over. My 4 year old raided my broody nest.

She was sitting on 9 EE's olive eggers 3 chocolate and 2 cochin+maran cross @ 9 days old. I was so livid. This morning she asked me if the mama chicken can bring back the babies. So I'll try again. Right now she is sitting on golf balls. I'll start collecting today, by day 3 she will be back over eggs. Some where not fertile. Maybe this batch will be better since I sold half the flock 2 weeks ago. The rooster only has 12 girls to cover now. But on the bright side I put 46 in the incubator yesterday. 35 green,5 chocolate and 6 brown. The brown ones are from 1 ee and 1 giant cochin. I wanted the cochin but couldn't tell which egg was hers. so I just took them all. This is the guy that is hatching them. He has a cam to watch them hatch. He hatches on weekends.
