The EE braggers thread!!!

Cackle is THE place to get EE's. I haven't ordered any bantams from them, but my 5 standard EE's are the friendliest in my coop. They will sit in my lap and they like to follow me while I make my rounds to the garden and the other farm animals. 4 of the 5 I got started out looking the same, but now each one is very different. I got quite a colorful mix from them :)

These are some of my EE's. I thought I had variety when they were chicks, but they all kind of look the same. I'm a little bored with them actually. I heard they get friendlier when they start laying. How many times will they molt their feather and change their coloring? These girls were born March 3rd. They are at the bottom of the pecking order in my flock. I got them from McMurray.
I think your birds are very pretty. I was hoping my EE would look like that. The hens from where I got mine looked almost exactly like yours, but the 5 eggs produced 4 black chicks and 1 white chick.

I sold 3 black ones that were roosters and got to keep our white Angel and black Ebony. Mine haven't made it into the club with the big hens yet and will likely stay at the bottom of the pecking order too. They actually sneak into the silkie pen to share food with them. (And they run away from the younger, smaller silkies-LOL!)

They are almost 12 weeks old in the picture:

EEs are amazing!

probly the most beutiful birds I have ever seen and I get alot of sales with them

I do have two all white EE's, but otherwise they pretty much look like the ones in the picture. I'm not sure how their egg production will be yet. I am very excited to have colorful eggs and I really hope I get at least one pink egg along with some blues. We do have two roosters; one light brahma and one blue andalusian. The blue andalusian particularly likes the EE's. I think it's because they are about his size and smaller, whereas the brahma rooster tends to like the brahma hens. I've seen some beautiful EE's on this thread and wish mine were that cool. But maybe when they molt, they will turn into something new.

Here's another one. She is mostly plain brown.

I moult will not change there color.... much anyway. I had 2 white EE and one when she moulted, feathered back with more buff on her chest. Very odd from what I have read. They don't usually change color at all. Just look shinny and new

I had two to change after their first moult. But the change was subtle, Skyfire before the moult had coppery feathers across her back and after the moult she had blue splotched feathers scattered across her back. And Chantilly had marked pseudo lacing around her feathers from midway to her head, but all her feathers after the moult were more "smudged" not cleanly "laced" like they had been before.

Oh and I got my EE for meyers hatchery and they have a good variety of color and pattern

I think calling an EE egg pink is a REAL stretch. We have one doing that and it is just a lighter version of the typical brown egg. If you are expecting pink ie red tones I think you will be disappointed. If you really get a PINK egg please post a picture cause I'll have to see it to believe it. Oh and your hens won't noticeably change color after molting. We like that EE coloring, I consider it a wild type? We put a blue wheaten Ameracauna rooster over the hens and got some really nice looking pullets. Lots of blue hues in the otherwise wild coloring.

My RIR's first egg was "lavender" (yes, purple) with darker speckles!

And, my Buff Orpington used to lay pinkish eggs. They were a true putty color which I didn't really like. Now my three hens (BO, RIR and PBR) lay eggs of almost the exact same color (light brown) but they are different sizes so I can tell them apart.

I'm excited for my Welsummer chick to start laying darker brown eggs and my EE to lay blue/green eggs. Someday I would like to have a "chocolate" egg layer and an "olive" egg layer too.

One can never have too many eggs, right?

Yea me! I just passed my egg candling class and got my license. Am now legal to sell my eggs at farmers markets now! Can't wait for all my pullets to start laying eggs!
