Thanks, I think they are beautiful too... but, I'm not sure what you mean... the rocks and reds... they are part of the flock already, just not EE's so I didn't make a big fuss over them on this thread... but if you mean breeding, yes, I will let nature run it's course, I have the 2 EE cockerels, the barred rocks belong to Royce, the darker roo, and the RIR's belong to Barney, the white roo, so naturally, this early in the game, they only go after the others hens and not their own... should be interesting to see what happens over the next year...!

She's one of my favorites. For my first batch of babies I got 5 Lavender Americaunas, another silkie mix that they pushed pretty hard (I KNEW he'd be a cockerel!) and then I made them throw this little girl in on the deal. She was teeny tiny and all black, and looked like a Silkie chick-- rounded and puffy.

both the birds in the posts above are exquisite! it's amazing how many different patterns and colors... and yet, so many similarities... such fun!
I want some with feathered legs and feet!

If I bred my Light Brahma rooster to an EE hen, what could I get?

BIG EEs Big Brahma bred to any bird will make the offspring larger. Of course nothing is 100% but usually that is the case.

Summer98 I'm gonna do that cross too! Won't be til next spring though, but we should still share pictures. I agree with flower they will certainly grow to be large birds, but I guess color would depend on what the EE mom looked like...I would love to get some big EEs with feathered legs, how cute! I bet if the mother lays a blue egg, the offspring will lay green eggs, and if she lays green eggs already, the offspring will prolly lay darker green eggs? That's just my understanding, somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe I will try it next year too. I've been thinking about it because I really love my Brahmas the most (feathered feet, large size, temperament), but I really like the colored egg trait. So what if I crossed those two together? I'm not sure about the egg colors though. How does that work? Of course the Brahma is a brown egger, so what would I get crossing with a blue, green, or pink layer?
