I think you got a good deal! Feed them up real good and yours will be even more lovely. Wish we could get them here! Of course here they would be called EEs.

yeah, I'm happy with them and i shall they eat a lot, and I've heard they are really rare around here and i think I'm the only one in my area that has them (lucky). Why is the American Standard so high then, and i thought EE's were a cross between an Araucana and any other chicken, so how could these be EE's even in your country if there Pure Bred.

In our standards there is no crest, cluck. The Australian standard is different, it is fitting though because you guys have a reputation for being a little bit colorful!

Of the colors posted on that pic i think you got the prettiest! But then i am partial to all blues/ lavendars I had an EE that had a lot of silkie type feathering, now i am curious about that! Perhaps it was the original feathering type? She had regular feathers, but only a thin coat and they were much softer than any of the others.

My last batch of babies came in with barring...........how do you tell which is male/female?

I am making Barred EE as we speak..... I am going to use the Barred pullets to make Sexlinked EE in the spring.  Using my GS BR to my SBEL pullet... should get some nice size eggs, production and Barred.  I have used barred EE to make SL Olive Eggers too.  I am making as many barred pullets as I can for spring hatches for the locals that can only have pullets.  The city people want to make pets and get them as day olds, I am just trying to help.  BTW the might lay a greener egg but when breed back to the AMs or EE they should lay a little bluer eggs.

Working on some Barred autosexing Olive Eggers too..... stay tuned.........

Would you mind telling me where i can get info on barred auto sexing? I have 4 week old babies...sorry tablet wont let me post pix....the mother could be a cuckoo marans (Or dark cornish or possibly a buff orpington) and one chick is black with a white dot on the head. I was thinking that it was probably out of the marans but i dont know if the dot is boy or girl....btw, rooster is the wheaton ameraucana in my avatar.

if it is from the cuckoo marans cross. I think generally with barred crosses the female has a rounder dot on its head and the males are larger and more irregular sometimes even making them look a littlke different color.

are they real young still? think the male will have a larger more irregular spot maybe broken up. female spot is smaller and more rounded
if I recall correctly. I am sure DMRippey will know better though.
I will update details when I make more crele penedesenca in the spring. it takes a few generations but you breed Partridge to crele then back to crele.
the first generation chicks should be autosexable but will see. since the rooster is a double barred chicken basically.

Mine will be a cross and both genders will be barred and the auto sexing might be in the color too. We will see. I am using a Cream Legbar roo x a Blue Cuckoo Marans hen...... but that will be a little while. Unless I find a CCL roo close to me for sale soon.

I really know NOTHING about auto sexing. This will be my first venture into them so we will see.

In the states EVEN pure breed Ameraucanas that don't meet the standard are EE..... If they are lacking a beard or muffs they are EE.... anything out of sorts makes them an EE. There are lots of EE running around here too

yeah which I still think is silly. good for olive egger projects I guess or blue egg layers..
a Marans that is not to confirmation is still a Marans
ohwell. I guess I like my Ameraucana bearded and muffed anyways

Yup. The leg color depends on what they have been bred from, and once the hatchery introduces a yellow legged bird, then all sorts of shades of green can pop up. Also, the colors change, mostly darken, as they grow.

Looks like you've got a great group there. You will probably get a big variety of egg colors too. EEs are definitely not for folks who hate surprises!
