The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Don't kill the possum. They're actually beneficial. I wouldn't want it in the house though. How did it even get in?
The dogs brought it in. I had heard them outside barking like crazy. It looked dead when it was laying on the couch. My husband thought it was a rat. It was about the siz of delta rat. I thought they killed chickens?

My husband scooped it up and put it in a an open box. We were going to kill it if the dogs had damaged it. He went back and i5 had taken off. Guess playing possum is a good strategy. The dogs pretty much didn’t have much interest while played dead. Scared the crap out of me.

Yes, they can kill chickens if they get them on the roost at night. Mostly, they steal eggs, but yup, chicken killers in certain situations, though not as bad as raccoons, certainly.

I'm so tired from all the running around I've done so far this week. I go to sleep and my nose falls into a book.
I hate tv with commercials. I tape what I want, usually pbs or hgtv, and speed thru the commercials. I just don't have the patience for them. There's only 3 shows on regular tv I like. I tape them too. They are all 3 by the same producer and they will try running them as one show in September. Hmmm.

My daughter lives in New Albany Indiana outskirts which is connected to Louisville by a bridge. She wants me to move there. She was crying on the phone. So I am looking. I thought you'd get a kick out of this. Within city limits New Albany allows chickens! There's no real limit listed but I'm looking where the backyards are about 75ft by 250 feet and a real old house. The only ones that can complain are the ones that have a house within 100 feet of the chickens and it has to be in writing. Zoning says they don't want to hurt people who need the eggs so they don't go hungry!

What a hoot!

You mean the Chicago PD stuff, like Chicago Med and Chicago Fire? I like SVU and Chicago PD a lot. Meaty shows, not fluff, though SVU can get a little preachy at times.

I loathe TV commercials, too. Drugs and lawyers is all I see.

That's a nice looking place.

I like the handicapped features, tankless water heater plus the whole house generator and its own gun range. I mean, what can't you do on 17 acres? But, Tellico Plains is really not my favorite place anymore, very touristy in the summer. It's not terrible, but very, very out of the way, something my husband really balks at. He also is very adamant about not getting a dog again because the stupid cat might run off (he says). I think it's because he hurts so much when they die, but all animals die. Either you go through that or never have the pleasure of their company.

I don't like living like I have one foot in the grave like he seems to do at times, though I have to also be sort of realistic, too. I guess I just have to save $$, pay off this house and hope against hope that I really don't have to live on just $600/mo one day soon.

Oh, Amanda the Wonder Hen laid her 6th egg of this cycle. Not bad for a hen approaching 12 years old and completely crippled, but for the first time, her egg shells are not hard and I see a lot of blood spots in them, something she's never had in previous years. Poor, sweet old gal.
