Very windy and cool today. No sign of rain at all.

DH left before 7:30 a.m. to go to get his brother, but they haven't released him yet. Apparently, he cannot be alone so my SIL is trying to get his doctor to get him into a rehab facility for now.


Trying to upload a couple of videos, but it's slow-going and I have a minor headache, could be the air quality. Blah. Hate that feeling.

I see no real rain expected in days and days and little chance when it even shows up in the forecast. Sigh.

DH is on his way home. One of his sisters met him with his brother in Dalton to take the brother to his apt or wherever he's going to go so DH could drive home from there. Dalton is about an hour west of us so hopefully, he'll be home in a bit. He's going to be dead on his feet, that's for sure, poor guy.

He was 11 hours away yesterday. They must get his brother in some sort of assisted something, but no one has $$ to pay. Medicaid WILL NOT pay for that. They'd do short term in-home stuff but when they see he'll need long-term, they bow out immediately. His daughter is going to HAVE to step up eventually, but she won't. She's avoiding this like the plague. My DH has been tasked with approaching the VA about nursing homes, if there are any spaces available anywhere, but they won't be close to any of us, of course. The one in Augusta is close to the SC border and closer to his daughter, which I'm sure will thrill her (not).

Tom did find what he hit, though. Wonder why the state patrol didn't see it. It was one of those two legged signs that tells restaurants off an exit. The Ft. Loudon exit sign had one leg taken out and the sign was flipped over backwards so that explains how both his windshield and his passenger door were smashed. Tom is making it; he's a strong guy, barges through the pain until he can't anymore. Very different from his brother.

Funny story. When he was sitting in his bro's hospital room and the nurse came in, she saw Tom and asked his brother, "is this your son?" HAHAHA! Tom is 2 years older. That's how bad his brother looks.

The cop said he asked him, after finding him sitting by his smashed truck at the gas station, how much he had to drink. He said, Sir, I don't drink. Then, the cop saw something was really off and asked if he knew where he was. He said, yeah, north Cartersville, GA. Cop says, Sir, you're in Tennessee. He was not only in TN but he was WAY UP into Tennessee. That was some fog. And if he was driving through those smoky areas, that was doubly bad on his lungs. He said he forgot to charge his oxygen concentrator and it was not delivering oxygen on top of that.

I did two more youtubes yesterday. They took literally all day long to upload with our super slow DSL. Neither is long, longest is about 10 minutes.

Hector, Jill, Mary and Thea will be 25 weeks old Wednesday. Hector may grow a tail within the next month, maybe. I did find out one thing-Hector will beg for biscuits.

And Apollo with Athena and Zara. Zara will be 34 weeks old Wednesday and she has not produced an egg yet that I know of. She's contending for the title which is still held by my EE, June, of 40 weeks for the first egg. Doesn't Apollo have a beautiful head on him?





ETA: On another subject, with fires on both sides and north of us, if there is a mandatory evacuation order, how should I leave my barn with the birds in it? I can't take them, certainly. Windows closed? Windows closed on the western side where the winds blow toward the barn normally and where the smoke is coming from? I can fill waterers as full as they'll go, but three groups have only 1 gallon waterers which won't last more than two days. Even with all windows closed, there is a gap at the top of the roll up door, 2"x 6' long for ventilation. The steel building may not burn but the smoke and heat would kill them if it really was close. I cannot see Watson Mountain right now and it's humongous and right there. I have zero idea where we'd even go.

Oh wow I hope you guys don't have to go anywhere. I hear they busted some jackass for setting five fires. I think I would probably leave the windows cracked open maybe an inch or two put out as much water as you can.

Hector does not look nearly as edgy as he did when he was younger, his whole face and demeanor is more relaxed but still alert
