The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Very nice, gravel in the walkway? I see Hector is your new avatar, very handsome.

It's paver base, need to find some irregular stone pavers to place in there, but this needs to be rained on and packed down some.

Here is the entire picture of Hector-he posed for the game camera by the driveway. Couldn't have gotten a better picture if I was trying.

That's hilarious, he was probably checking out his gorgeous reflection. You have a great game camera to have gotten such a good picture.
The StealthCam is really great in daytime, pretty good at night, too. That Hector, though, he sure loves to pose when I'm not making him.

Great pic of Hector! Your sidewalk is looking better, and better.
Thanks! I'm liking the way it's turning out so far.

Well, my friend called this morning. I wouldn't have called her back, but she also sent a text message saying it was important she talk to me.

She, her husband, her grandson, and a friend of theirs are all planning to come to Florida in August. I told her in no uncertain terms that they are NOT staying with me, and she would have to find other accommodations. Her daughter got a small apartment, and they can get air mattresses, and sleep over there. They can go to any one of her husband's 5 brother's homes to stay, or they can get a room, but they can NOT stay with me.

My little BA's are doing great! The older ones are spoiled rotten. I went to feed them yesterday, and they weren't interested in the feed, but I got an earful for not giving them their treats. They got quite vocal about it. Spoiled brats. LOL!

I'm about to beat my cat. She loves my chickens, especially the chicks. If they get to cheeping too much, she will come get me, so I can check on them. The brooder is in the breakfast nook, on the other side of my kitchen. I have tile floors, and was concerned the flooring might make the bottom of the brooder too cool, so I put a towel under the brooder box.

The cat discovered she can claw the towel, and pull it, and the brooder box comes too. When she wanted out on the patio, she tried dragging the brooder box out with her. I scolded her. Later, when she was ready to go take a nap, she tried dragging the brooder box to the bedroom. She doesn't understand that they have to be under the heat lamp. I finally put a couple bricks on the towel, so it's too heavy for her to drag. She's spending time napping in the breakfast nook, but she's not happy about it.

Cats are crazy, I swear. This morning, I was in the barn pen and Finn came running from the pasture direction, all fluffed up like something was after him. I looked, hoping it wasn't a coyote or something, but only saw a whitetail doe just outside the perimeter fence. She looked at me and I called out to her, "Hey, lady!". And she didn't run. In fact, she regarded me for a moment, then jumped INTO the perimeter and began walking toward me! I kept talking to her and she kept coming, almost all the way to the back pen fence. Then, she just calmly began chomping leaves off bushes. She was not at all afraid of me, acted like we were old friends. I was positive I'd seen the same doe on both game cameras, one right by the front walkway and now, I'm sure it's the same gal. I bet she has a fawn or fawns laying up in that tangle on the bottom lot just past our pasture lot. And she thinks she's a member of the family!
