The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I posted pictures of a gate we used to have across the top of our steps to keep the dogs in and they featured our late Kes. Made me miss that big old marshmallow of a dog. Wasn't she beautiful? I told Tom I'd love to clone her, but he said it would not be the same, that she was like she was because of her early life experiences before she got to us. And, of course, he was right.

of course, she was named after a Star Trek character, Kes, a species called an Ocampa, who only lived to be 9 years old. My husband is a trekkie. My Kes lived to be almost 15.

She looked like a gentle dog. I am a sci-fi nerd, so I definitely know star trek characters, also Stargate, Firefly, Star Wars, to name a few series I have enjoyed watching obsessively.

She was. I called her my plushpuppy. I've never watched Stargate, but DH loved Firefly and of course, loves Star Wars, though neither of us were all that thrilled with the last movie, The Last Jedi. I know why I didn't like it, but I was surprised when he found it not up to par with others. Of course, Cody was also named for a funnyTV character on a series we used to watch, Step by Step, played by Sasha Mitchell, who also later did quite a few karate-themed movies, another interest of my family. My older son holds a brown belt in Genwakai Japanese karate and black belts in TaeKwondo and Sajido.

Loved Cody, such a character. So was my dog!About 1:38 starts a cool scene where he gets to show off his karate skills in the usual Cody way. We laughed so much at this guy back then.

One thing that bugged me, and maybe nobody else, was the weird "pop-up" of Yoda where it seemed to be there just because, well, YODA. No reason for it that I could see, didn't belong. And I was bored to death the first hour with all the psychoanalyzing and talking. I actually kept trying not to fall asleep. I like action, but it was either too much or too little. And did anyone else literally loathe the choice of actor for the son of Leia and Han? No way those two would produce that. I know he's supposed to be evil, but evil that looks ugly and evil is just too predictable. He should have been so much better looking than that, IMO. Just bugged me in the first one where he killed his father and bugs me even more in this one.

Yeah, the porgs were the tribbles of this movie, LOL.

We saw the original Star Wars when it came out at the Cinedome in Ogden, Utah, best theater ever! HUGE, curved screen, nice seats, great place to see anything. Michael was in a baby carrier in the theater with his ears plugged, LOL. He was born April 77. And the second time we were stationed there just before retirement, we saw The Last of the Mohicans, my favorite movie, at the Cinedome. I wish they still had that theater open. Every theater should be like that.

I loved Cody too, go TGIF. Too bad he had that whole thing about wife abuse and than he wasn't on the show for a while. We watched all those shows. I don't get today's sitcoms.

I haven't seen the new Star Wars, I refuse to go to the theater, will see it on DVD. Nothing can compare to the originals because they came with a time and era when those movies were cutting edge. They helped define my childhood, and a whole generation, so the new ones don't feel the same to me. Actually no movies feel like they used to, maybe it's me.

That guy is ugly, I agree that Leia and Han would not have spawned that ugly buggar.
