The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

We've done Turbo Tax for the past few years as well. I've never had any glitches at all, thankfully, but our taxes are quite simple, no itemizing, just DH's military pension, the VA portion of his disability (which is not extra, just removed from his pension and given to him by the VA, big whoop) plus his SS and that's it.

Does what happened with Atlas sound like GJ had some sort of episode? I'm almost ready to find her dead in the a.m. She was so slow to move after he got off her, just laid on her side, dazed. It's raining and I'm yawning so going to bed to read for awhile. Thursday TV is really awful, nothing we watch on this night so we watched episodes of Seal Team and 9-1-1 that we missed last night and I'm getting sleepy.

Have y'all looked at freetaxusa?

I used to purchase a tax software. But the IRS lists several that are free to use online so I was using the freetaxusa (one on their list) for my adult kids taxes for several years.

Ours are too complicated so we have to hire someone.

I remember that one from years ago. Turbo Tax is free, too, not sure if you itemize. But there are several that are good. Turbo Tax does the state as it does the federal, simultaneously.

Never tried the others. Just turbo tax. The glitch would not affect most people. Just the ones with hurricane damage. He put all the figures in for the hurricane damage, and it would show them, but it wouldn't add them in for the correct total. Even tech support couldn't correct it manually. It wouldn't allow it. I'm sure they'll be fixing it soon.

Years ago, I got some good Oneida stainless steel flatware, and I noticed I don't have many spoons, and I'm missing a couple other pieces too. Dd #1 has been teaching the grandkids to pick up their plates, scrape any remaining food into the garbage, and put their dishes in the sink. In the process, their silverware either falls into the garbage with the food, or their just dumping everything including silverware. I had to go to town yesterday, so I got a set of flatware, service for 8, with 8 extra teaspoons. I also went to the kid's section, and got some inexpensive spoons for them. I'm prepared for the little buggers!

The $40.00 set was on sale, and is nice, but not like the set I had. I began looking online for the missing pieces. Good grief. It's going to cost me over $75.00 to replace the missing pieces. I bought that set years ago, service for 8, with completer hostess set, for about $50.00. Today, the same set is $150.00 for a service of 4 (not 8 like I got), and the hostess set. It would cost me $300.00 today, to get the same set I paid $50.00 for, years ago. I will get the pieces I need to complete it, but I'll get some each payday, and complete it over time. I'll keep it put up, until the kids are older. That's just for good quality stainless steel. I hate looking at the prices for real silverware, and glad I inherited 3 good sets.

Mine used to disappear into the sandbox and other various places that a small "shovel" was useful

Finally started going to Walmart and purchasing the ones that you can buy each piece (fork, knife..) in a bundle of a dozen at a time. That way if I have a shortage of anything I can just get that piece.

There is only 1 type that I like there that is sturdy and not "cheap" feeling. That's the one I get but it seems that everyone else gets that too. And, guess what? The spoons are almost always out of stock or in low inventory. Go figure :D

Spoons disappear here too lol. I just get the cheap Walmart bundles when we get low. Nice flatware will have to wait until I don’t have a house full of kids. :)

We always use H&R Block for taxes. We usually have to pay $30 or something (they do have a free version, we just usually don’t qualify for one reason or another) but it’s easy to use. And our state has a free file system for the state taxes we use which is a huge pain in the but, not user friendly at all, but it’s free lol. I need to get ours done but our laptop just died so I don’t have a working computer unless hubby brings his work one home.

A couple days ago my teenager was babysitting and called me saying he was the worst babysitter ever. The 2 year old had climbed on the counter and gotten into the eggs. 4 dozen eggs all over the kitchen, bench, coffee table, hubby’s late grandma’s rug. I was not happy. Took me an hour to get it cleaned up and then took another hour for hubby to get carpet clean with our carpet cleaner.

Oh, no, Kara! At least he admitted he sort of let the young one out of his sight for a minute. Good training, LOL. Poor you, though! Hopefully, he helped you clean that up!
Yeah hubby made him help with the carpet cleaner. I cleaned up the rest because I wanted it clean faster and better than he could and needed him to keep all the kids away because I was so mad lol.

I can imagine how I'd feel, LOL.

Well, anyone want Lizzie and Tessa? Make ya a sweet deal, LOL. I'm tired of them beating on MaryJo. Both have the broody gene, neither are the super "love-me-hold-me" type, and I'm tired of hassles! They are both 1/2 Stukel Rocks out of Atlas. Even though I'm mad at them right now, I'd want them to have a nice dry coop to live in where their situation would be not a huge step down from what they're used to now, though I realize not all folks have a big steel barn like we do. I just don't want them thrown into a 3-sided lean-to exposed to the cold and wind so they'd be very unhappy and uncomfortable.

They are over 2 years old and good layers, but dang it, I want some peace in that pen. Tessa just beat up on MJ and literally threw her out of the nest and onto the floor twice. Atlas was standing under sort of looking up, doing a half-hearted "girls, stop that, will ya?", but he wasn't going to jump up there and really do a smack-down.
