The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I sent the first lady that I mistakenly messaged about Liz and Tess and told her I got her confused with the other person who also bought a BR cockerel from me and had a similar name, that she probably thought I was nuts when she got it.
She sent me back this:

Haha! I was curious and thinking maybe I was half asleep one day and had talked to you. And then, I thought, hey, I would like some more hens!

That was quite good!

Thanks! I remember reading about guineas and the book never once said plainly that guineas could be aggressive to chickens. The author would say "guineas rule", but that did not explain their true nature in enough detail. I found out the hard way!

I don't like guinea either. Good video about them. It must of been an adventure having them in your bathroom for a bit.

Actually, I did like them, a lot, until they became street thugs. They were entertaining, for sure. It was odd how they targeted only the red hens and my rooster. Special kids, those goonie-birds. I may have them again some day, but when I have fewer chickens or no chickens. They're pretty independent birds, which may be a good thing for later in life for us.

Sorry, I dislike them so much I included you in my opinion. :)

Neighbors had them when I was a kid, obnoxious birds that suddenly disappeared after the summer, but I understand the appeal, they just aren't for me. Bad enough I have obnoxious turkeys.

I had the perfect guinea experience. My neighbor had 4, and they would come over to my house for the day. Other than a strange fascination with the chrome bumpers on my truck, they were well-behaved and quite interesting. They roosted in the trees at night, and eventually disappeared due to predators. If they were not so noisy I would consider keeping some.
