The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I took it outside for better light, one in the shade and one with more light exposure, but maybe I was wrong. It's sort of a teal green, not teal blue, if you get what I mean. Maybe close to emerald. I have a hard time deciding what emerald actually is.

Why do some folks just seem to want to criticize and lecture me on stuff I know as much or more about than they do? I swear, we have some cantankerous old nasties in this world (and on this forum). Someone was discussing oyster shell and said birds that don't need it are eating it, or something like that. I said even my roosters will eat oyster shell and they certainly don't need it. Some curmudgeon many of you know said maybe my roosters are lacking, that they are searching for grit. I say no way, we live on a mountain covered in "grit", that they get plenty of grit, plus their 13 grain mix also has granite grit in it as well. So, I get literally lectured and then, insulted, really, accusing me of just trying to "get buy" (yes, he used the wrong word there). What is wrong with people? I really don't like these backhanded insults they like to hand out, holding themselves out to be experts. You know I am the last person to just "get by" with my birds, sheesh. Some people live to be nasty. This person has answered my reply and I will not engage, will not engage, will not engage......geez. It's like there are certain folks on the forum that look for my posts so they can disagree with me or lecture me and try to make me look like an idiot to their minions. You see why I rarely go outside my own threads anymore.

Yellow Band. This baby has a bad left eye. I'm guessing that it was pecked. I've tried everything I can think of on it to no avail. Normal in every other way. Eating, drinking, acting completely normal except for the bad eye.

Aw, sweet babies, Sue. I had a BR pullet who had a peck injury. One eye was sort of stuck back in the socket too far, gave her an odd, goofy look. She was still alive as of a few months ago, about 11 years old if she's still kicking, owned by a friend.

A very nice lady and former Brahma customer says she wants to buy all 15 Brahma chicks, but she can't drive until July 3, post-surgery. I told her if she really wanted them all, I'd hold them for her until then, plus let her have the entire lot for half price. She adores Bash's sons she has and had 4H connections around which she can distribute the love of the Big Boys. I have only 2 pullets and 13 cockerels. It's worth it to me to get them all gone at once if she really wants to do this. She is battling cancer, is a great advertisement for this variety of Brahma. She's the one who took them to TSC to show off how sweet tempered they are.
