I think folks of a certain age (incl. moi) need to wear bumper pads around us to prevent ground contact. We can just be roly poly humans but, will need help standing up.

Now, wherever will I put the trophy on my newly dusted mantel? Dubious honor, right? Dont think anything is broken, just scraped and sore.Cyn you WIN hands down. Hope nothing broke.![]()

Sounds like a plan.I think folks of a certain age (incl. moi) need to wear bumper pads around us to prevent ground contact. We can just be roly poly humans but, will need help standing up.
I've been like this since I moved up to the mountains. Fallen forward, backward, straight downward crunch (which broke the ankle so loudly that DH heard it 20 ft away), etc. I have become at one with the dirt.Folks of a certain age need bubble wrap lined clothes, and shoes.
It's the "fall" season!Last week I fell out of the chicken house. There is a step made from 2 short pieces of 4x4 that has been there for years, half sunk in the ground. As I came out the door and stepped down, they both rolled in different directions, how i don't know. I grabbed for the door frame, caught my foot - with my bad knee- behind the sill and crashed down. My bad knee leg doubled up under me and got left in the doorway, the rest of me banged down on the ground. I was sure I had broken 5 legs and lay there moaning and thinking I didn't have my phone and no one was home - it was the classic "I've fallen and I can't get up" moment! But then I thought - the step rolled away and there are years of "creepy crawlies" under there - and now they are under ME! Suddenly I was able to leap up and dust myself off - even with 5 broken legs!
I was pretty shaken up and ,boy, did I have one heck of a huge hematoma and bruise on one half of my butt, but nothing broken . I sure can sympathize, Cyn!!! Hope you both are feeling better now.![]()
I just came across the thread where you were out of commission after you broke your ankle. Good grief, girl! You really did a number on yourself - you have to be careful with that ankle! You don't want to re-injure that again!Ouch, ouch ouch! I did that, too, once, right out of Isaac's door, stepped on a rock that shifted and down I went onto my back-that one had me limping for over a week. We're a mess, aren't we?
