So sorry you lost your cow and calf, Isaiah. Sad day indeed.

The possessed camera decided to work again briefly this a.m. and I was checking out the zoom on it, plus a few other things. Just posting those. It takes really nice photos. I may just have to see if I can find another one somewhere that is actually not possessed, LOL.

A woman in Korea that my son knew from teaching there actually painted this for me and sent it back with him on one of his trips home. It made it through the house fire, if you can believe it, probably because it was at the furthest point from the origin of that. It's on the most delicate tissue-like paper.

I can't wait until that big L-shaped building is gone and I can see the former bantam coop and most of the rounded meadow part of the pasture.

Zoom works great. This mountain almost completely shrouded in mist is Piney Mtn.

I had to chuckle when I read about you crocheting in your recliner because the memory of Finn all stretched out on his back in your chair popped into my mind.

I answered on the thread, but again, I'm so sorry, Isaiah. With chickens as well, sometimes, you just don't know something is wrong or if you do, you can't always tell what is wrong until it's too late. We used to have a pony and though we didn't lose the pony herself, she did have a stillborn foal once. Very sad.

Thanks! Its actually our grandoas vow but we raise cattke with him and have some of our own too. Hes really sad right now but not much one can do...

Yes, it is. Same with chickens. They come and go and you just have to know you did your best to keep them healthy and give them a good life.

Thanks, Angela. Yes, I have a towel that stays in my chair until I want to use it so the cat hair hopefully stays on the towel, not on my projects.

The camera quit working again. Nothing I did could keep it on the rest of the day so this is with my other one. @crazyhen here is your namesake, Miss Gloria Jean. She is 5 years old now. Isn't she a pretty little thing? I can't believe she's still alive after all those months of bloat. Atlas sure likes her but I fear he'll snap her neck. He'll grab her and she twists around and backwards and tries to pull out of his grasp. He doesn't let go quickly and I think one day, he'll accidentally kill the poor thing. But he seems to really like her, from all the attention he gives her.






ETA: Forgot to tell you that I candled Ida's four eggs. Removed one that was not fertile/never began developing, that I suspect was Gloria Jean's. Ida has two of her own and one of Tessa's now. She is on Day 12 on Monday.

Atlas is outside running in the new pen, which still needs steel posts at the back edge. Gloria Jean keeps finding her way out of the pen there so if DH and I can get over our respective headaches today, maybe we can get that done.

Ida is on Day 14 with her 3 eggs. I tried to move her to the bantam coop but she was NOT having it! So, she is back in the main coop until her chicks hatch, then I'll move her.


Ida, after I plopped her on the floor to get her to go dustbathe, eat, drink and poop.






And Wynette's new crew. Funny thing about sexing these. The ones with the tiniest head spots are the ones with the cleanest legs, go figure. This is why I tell folks you really cannot sex this heritage line as easily at first as you can hatchery stock. They will definitely fool you!
