Thank you, Gabriel. I hope so, too. It's very stressful for my husband and for me to see him stressed over this. He's been canning chicken stew all day long and on his feet and tomorrow, he has to drive up there to Loudon County to get his brother.

Wow that's a tough spot with your BIL.is he drinking? I guess if the cops smelled booze they would have told you.

This is a good place to vent. No family can read my BYC. Unlike Facebook.

No, no alcohol. He has an oxygen machine all the time and still smokes so he's always in danger of blowing himself up, almost did once. When those levels go down, he hallucinates and has blackouts. Not a candidate for driving anymore. That means someone else will have to shop for him, more on their plate. And he'll make sure they pay for a lot of it, beg poverty, when he certainly can live off what his disability pays if he even tried one whit.

You know, the cop who found him asked the grocery store if they'd put his cold groceries in their fridge, which they did. So, that's two very nice things that were done for him and he won't appreciate that, I'm sure. They didn't have to do that. He won't give their kindness a single thought, I bet. I think that was extremely kind of them.

I finished the binding on this 52" square reversible quilt today. Maybe someone will want it for a gift this season.

The fabric on the back is fabulous.

Sounds like it would be best if he was moved closer to the sister's, if they want to take him on. When people have a death wish there is little you can do.

We have a casino in town and i find it both grotesque and fascinating when people sit at the slots with an oxygen tank hooked to their nose and a lit cigarette in their hand. I'm sure fire regs would prevent it if it was not sacred tribal land :/

He lived really close to them until the apartments were going to raise his rent. The management really wanted him out of the apartments, in truth. He kept his door open and the mess inside was horrible. So, he found one 25 miles further north that was almost $200 cheaper. It's a non-smoking unit. He is in violation of that now, of course, so it's only a matter of time before they toss him out of that place, too.

The sisters don't want him living in their homes for obvious reasons. Me, either. I don't have the $$ to support someone else, but even if we did, we have a zero tolerance policy for smoking in our house, NO exceptions for ANYONE. We have watched their mother and father and my own mother die with emphysema from cigarettes and he did exactly the same thing; neither my husband nor I ever smoked ourselves, cannot stand the smell of it. I also have a zero tolerance for the websites he cruises, if you know what I mean. Not on my IP, you don't!

You make him sound so appealing :sick

You and Tom are not responsible for caring for someone who's already made their own life decisions, and made choices that are completely contrary to what you can tolerate. Let him live the life he chooses.

Oh, trust me, I'm not taking him on. The others give him more rope than I would. And the more they give, money, time, etc, the more he asks for, never truly grateful for any of it as far as I can tell. I can see how some men end up homeless. If he didn't have his sisters, being kicked out of his apartment, no vehicle, he might find himself on the streets. Hopefully, he can get a place in a VA nursing home since he was briefly in the Navy as a young man. There's one in Augusta, GA on the S. Carolina border, but he would resist going, I bet. Anyway, my husband is leaving early tomorrow to go up there. I hope he gets there safely, dumps his brother back at the apartment and comes home without a hitch. Going to bed to read now. Yawn. Talk to you guys tomorrow.

COPD, when acting up, can cause a lack of oxygen, which in turn causes "fuzzy" thinking, and can cause loss of consciousness too. This might explain what happened to him.

I hope your husband's back doesn't hurt too bad from the trip, or that he can take something to alleviate the pain afterwards.

Glad to hear that Hector is finally trying to grow a tail.

Yes, I know it can. This could have been an even sadder call by the police than it was.

I guess folks have heard about all the fires in GA, NC, and TN. I'm smack dab in the middle of them and some days, the smoke is very thick. I am worried for my chickens. Thankfully, neither of us has breathing issues to be made worse by it, but it's still not fun.
