Boy look at that comb on that first boy, he's gonna be full of himself.

Haha, he already is! They are both big boys, though that one is taller and the barring a teensy bit sharper. That's why I'm thinking he's from the Stukel side, but there's an outside chance I could be wrong. I'm more sure about the pullets than who the boys belong to. But, generally, the Stukels are leggier than Hector's side.

I just love the expression on his face! Priceless. Daughter, and grandkids coming over today. They asked if they could each have a chick. Their mother told them they could, BUT it had to live here at grandma's. 3 year old granddaughter made her mom call, so she could confirm it with me. I told her to be thinking of chicken names for her chick. She was thrilled.

When they get here tomorrow, I will have each of them pick a color of nail polish, then a chick. I will then paint a toenail in their color, on their chick, so they will know which one is theirs when they come over.

My grandson was the first, and knew all about jumping on the bed, and jumping off if he heard his mommy coming. When his little sister got big enough, he taught her. I was informed that little sister has now taught baby sister. Baby sister thinks she's big stuff now.

Sounds like fun! I want my grandnieces and nephews to come here, get hooked on chickens so they bug their parents to have chickens when they go back home, LOL. I know none of them live where they can have them. Am I evil?

Cyn, I don't consider it to be evil. Children need to be introduced to a large variety of things in their lives. Having a relative that raises chickens, grows a garden, and lives differently than they do, is good for them.

I had a couple uncles that raised hogs, and had cows. When we would visit them, my cousins would pen up the sow, and we would have a ball catching, holding, petting, and talking to the piglets. My aunts went out early every morning to milk the cows. They're the ones that taught me to milk a cow, and about churning butter. I knew I couldn't have a pig, or cow, but it sure made visiting them fun, to learn, and experience new things.

Having spent a lot of time on my grandfather's farm and watching them grow food, raise and butcher chickens, hogs and cattle was a valuable experience. Maybe that was the reason I'm where we are now. I almost wish I'd asked Dad to keep a few acres of the farm for me when Granddaddy died, but we were in the military and had no ideas of homesteading in our minds at the time. Anyway, that side of GA is very hot and humid in summer, not at all like the mountains we live in now so I guess it was all for the best.

What a wonderful end to your walkway, reminds me of the yellow brick road. Love it.

Those are some deep dust bathing craters, wow. Your chicks look happy running around. I recently move a batch of 4 week olds out to my shed. They haven't ventured outside yet, they are tiny compared to the adults.

Glad you think it looks good so far. I have quite a lot to do, but it won't be done this season, surely. I'm ready to get my vehicle back, hopefully today. They were late getting the transmission, then they had to send it to Nissan to be "flashed", which I take it means to be programmed to the car somehow.
