I find drinking more water will sometimes stop heartburn. Sorry you had such a rough night.

Did you want another broody? Or are they just a pain? Mine are a pain, I have one after another, and often multiple ones. I currently have 3 in the jail.

I drink quite a bit of water, actually, mostly water. I was guzzling it yesterday, hoping it would help.

No, I really don't want another broody. I still have Brandy with her 8 Brahma chicks and though they're sold, I'm waiting on her to reject them. And the five BRs are still here, too. Broodies are a pain sometimes, especially the newbies at it.

I wasn't sure, some people actually don't drink plain water which always shocks me. Hopefully your heartburn was just a one night affair, sometimes the darnest things set it off, for me it's bananas and oatmeal, not necessarily together.

oh, yes, I drink our good-tasting well water every day, several glasses. Some days I absolutely crave it. Funny you mention bananas and oatmeal. I love bananas on my oatmeal. I also hope it was a one day thing, thanks, Lisa. My DH did grocery shopping today and brought back Walmart's equivalent of Maalox for me. Such a good man.

Thanks, Mary. No heartburn so far, just dragging from the all-day and all-night pain.


I caught Rowena sitting under the roost again. When I checked her, I thought I felt a tiny bit of bloat coming back. Not sure I should do any more meds since she had a week of antibiotics. She was completely bloat-free for a couple of weeks, then I saw her get on a nest and sit, not produce an egg. Now, I fear she is relapsing.

I heard about that! Now, watch it rain buckets so we can't see it! Blairsville they mention is a few miles east of me and Clayton is further east still.

Another night of pouring rain. I'm sick of rain! Too much rain in a garden is as bad as not enough. We've not had any tomatoes ripen yet, but we've been pulling squash and beans out for awhile now. Okra is almost ready to start picking and the butternut squash volunteer plant is taking over the entire compost pile. How I'll harvest those huge squashes, I'm not sure. It's not a stable surface in there. May be snakes, too, yikes! Guess I'll have lots of butternut squash puree to freeze or can this season for breads, muffins, pancakes, etc, etc, etc.

Lizzie's runny wet poop was not on the roost this a.m., which means she slept in the nest last night. Good grief. I hate broodies in summer, but I may remove her to the hospital cage or dog cage and give her a few of Jill's eggs so I know they are all Hector progeny.

No one mentioned Drea/Drew. This comb is still not super pink, not big like the two boys. Wonder how this one will develop? Will the comb suddenly pop up overnight? Will it be a very early developing pullet? What the heck? But, that is Stukel barring, no doubt, whichever sex it is. But all except the comb says "male". Strange 8 week old child, this one. It is so super calm, too! Amazingly calm and acts very wise for a chick.
