The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

And, we're up! And in raking some long-piled-up leaves near my snowball bush next to the driveway, DH unleashed the fury of a yellow jacket nest underneath! He was stung several times, had some attached to his jeans and shirt and socks. Should have seen him running to the house, shedding his infested clothes as he ran. He's off to the store to buy yellow jacket spray-seems all our wasp spray cans are empty anyway. He poured gasoline and lit them up, but they're still buzzing around. What fun!

In a minute, check out the Brahma thread-I took pictures of the four cockerels just now and they are looking so stunning! Why, oh why, can't we keep all the boys?? I love my boys!

Yikes that's a lot. Hopefully you get a good night's sleep.

I did, thanks. That rack is 8' long and about 4' high, and 4' wide so it will hold about 2 cords. That pile between the trees almost made a cord, though some logs would not even split with the electric splitter, just a bit green and very hard. I think it was a sourwood tree that we cut down in the pasture that had been standing dead for awhile, but the lower parts were not as dead as the top was.

We are dealing with lots of hornets and wasp this time of year. They seem to like making winter nests under our house siding, so every year in the fall they are everywhere. Those stings hurt like heck.

I changed my avatar to one of my bantam mottled cochins roosters, isn't he adorable with no legs and footy pajamas? After 2 years of maintenance he and his brother are finally really great roosters. All shenanigans are behind them, hopefully.

Ouch. Those hornets really hold a grudge, poor Tom.
and to think that I was raking all around there myself just a couple days ago.

Awww, reminds me of my sweet Xander. I miss my Munchkin Dictator. He sure knew how to handle those big hens.
