I had no idea what the problem was, but I felt the likelihood that an entire group of birds inherited a heart issue was unlikely. I know some love to be very definitive in their answers, but I can't see leading someone astray if I really have no clear answers for them. I just described how the heart issues I've seen here presented, one with the Delaware pullet who had not laid her first egg but was about to, and the porcelain D'Anver rooster who was brother to my Aubrey so she could compare, if applicable at all.

I sometimes think folks will say "well, speck doesn't know much, does she?" when I won't say I know for sure anything if I don't, while others love to jump up and say off the cuff stuff that may or may not be true, just to feel like an expert-not meaning that about anyone in that thread, necessarily, just speaking generally. Some stuff can't be determined without testing. But, then you have the crowd who pooh-pooh at testing if it disagrees with what they "know" to be true. On the other hand, I did diss a lab test report once because it did not support any of the symptomology of the bird or the flock she came out of, plus to back my own conclusion up, I had another vet read the lab report and he told me their preliminary conclusion was a bunch of horse manure.

Yep, opinions vary, and some are not very accurate. The trick is figuring out the good from the bad.

If she really wants to know what has killed the birds so far, she needs to get an autopsy. Each may have died of different causes - birds have limited ways to exhibit their diseases or defects, and many can look alike. If she just wants to treat, she was given good advice on how to do that best. At least she is trying to figure it out by doing her own autopsies, over time that will give you a better feel for normal:abnormal.

Yes, this! I say top many things look alike from the outside of a bird, can't say over the internet what's wrong, not with any real certainty. Educated guesses are all well and good, but my area of "education" is not in the respiratory stuff, but more in the reproductive stuff, though same deal-can't tell for certain unless you open them up at death. Most of those end the same way.

Lisa, never heard that one! I've heard, "that just sticks in my craw!" meaning of course, something you just can't stomach.

I tried something today with some old short video clips I found taken years ago. The rooster crowing in the soundtrack at beginning and end really is the rooster featured in the video because I have .wav files of some of my favorite boys crowing, including Zane, Dutch, Isaac and Suede! This is my very much missed late Isaac.

What are you using for your video editing?
They are turning out really nice.

Well, I was using Video Pad Editor by NHC Suite, but the trial is over and they want $$ or the features suddenly are limited. Bummer. They have other programs inside it as well, like a dedicated slideshow maker, which is really good, and those still work okay. I can use the features but it will no longer upload directly to YouTube for me.

I know I'm old, but I do try to keep up with the times. I happen to know that when you google a word, and it takes you to a dictionary link, some of those links not only show you the pronunciation, but have a little speaker icon, that when you click on it, you can hear how it's pronounced. Welcome to the 21st. Century!

It's the rude part that gets to me. I can deal with someone that mis-states something, or is under-informed, but the rudeness is uncalled for.
