The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Do you have a photo with your waterer on it that you can post?

Rather than try to slog through all the pic folders, I just took one of the set up in the bantam pen. They have that 1/2 block to stand on since they're so tiny.

In trying to figure out what is wrong with my computer, we ran memory testing, which came up fine, did all sort of system checks, including checking for updated drivers for lots of hardware, etc, etc. So, hopefully, we deleted something that was causing me grief.

I guess desktop computers are passe now. The all-in-ones are the newest desktops and most folks live on their iphones, which I do not have because, first of all, I cannot afford one. Second, they do not work at my house. And third, I get headaches looking at a tiny screen. I want a BIG screen. Why go to humongous full-wall TVs but go to smaller and smaller phones which are actually hand-held computers? I don't get it. It's unpleasant to do things on a small screen. I hate it. Makes me want to throw the device out a window.

Test photo upload to check out the computer.

I keep thinking that desktop computers are on their way out too, but not yet. Sure, the phones, and tablets can keep the younger generation connected to social media, their games, and the stores via the internet, but far too many businesses, scientists, engineers, etc. still have to rely on desktop, or laptop PCs, because of platform, and other compatibility issues, so we're safe for now.

Love your chicken water heater! It looks practical, easy to do, and inexpensive. Can't beat that.

Someone was really nasty about the plastic buckets when I posted directions back in 2010, but we've used those for about 8 years and not one issue with them. And you can get free buckets from most bakeries, too.

I believe you, however, we've already figured out that there seem to be quite a few on here that, if they gained 30 IQ points, would be as smart as a rock. All present company excluded, of course.

I am always careful to say that you must have a lower wattage bulb. If you put a 100w bulb in there, you could have an issue, but we've had 25w and 34w and 40w and never a problem. It is not to actually heat water, just to keep it above the freezing point so that the tray is not frozen solid. If you put a one gallon waterer on there, you can have it get a little lukewarm, not great because bacteria could build up. It should always stay cool or cold, just not frozen.
